How To Stay Productive During Summer
Listen--I know this post is a little late, but personally I start to lose any semblance of productivity during late June/Early July. Here are some tips that have helped me out so far!
Try to keep a consistant sleep schedule...you donāt have to go to bed at 9 and wake up at 5:30, but donāt wake up at 2pm one day and 6am the next. Try to keep it consistant so that planning is a lot easier
Do your summer assignments...Seriously!! Most of the time, theyāre your first grade inputted. You donāt want to start the semester off on the wrong foot, so get up and do those assignments!
iāve completely forgotten how to use imaginary numbers and logs the summer slide is real šš

What if the children who allegedly experience summer learning loss never really learned at all? asks Kerry McDonald.
"The "summer slideā has been cited as a top reason for making summer programs, particularly for underprivileged youth, more academically rigorous. In other words, summer schooling trumps summer playing ā especially if youāre poor. A free and unstructured summer, then, is seen as a playful luxury: fun, but not educational, and potentially even harmful.
What if we challenged this notion? What if the children who allegedly experience "summer slide" never really learned at all? They may have been successfully schooled: that is, trained and tested on specific skills and competencies before summer began. But they likely never learned. There can be no "summer slide," no loss of learning, when learning is authentic and self-directed."

ABCmouse Prevents Summer Slide for Rising First Graders in Miami-Dade County Public Schools
This study examined the impact of ABCmouse Early Learning Academy on summer learning loss (known as āsummer slideā) in a diverse sample of 999 rising first graders. Results showed that ABCmouse helped prevent summer slide in reading for students who regularly used ABCmouse for at least 70 minutes per week over the summer. Students who met this usage threshold demonstrated literacy gains equivalent to the benefits of one month of academic instruction, while children who scored below the median at the beginning of the study experienced even greater gains from using ABCmouse.
