It’s now Day five of this absolute monster of a summer cold, and we’ve reached the stage where the mere whisper of a Kleenex against either nostril feels like dragging sandpaper across a sunburn.
I’ve blown through the soft stuff — the Puffs with aloe, the Vicks-infused luxury tissues, the “friendly confines” of civilized nose care. Hankies are out because they’ve all been contaminated by this plague and I do not have the will, strength, or emotional bandwidth to wash them.
So now we enter the emergency phase: soft T-shirts.

I sneezed like 30 times now Im the last couple hours and it’s so weird because normally it’s super hard to get me to sneeze like I’ll sneeze maybe once every 4-5 days when i’m healthy. Not a sensitive nose, no allergies that I know of, nothing.
I got this cold now tho and at first it was normal but now theres just a tickle stuck in my nose and it keeps coming back especially when I finally get rid of any snot (sorry if this is too graphic) and then I’ll need to sneeze like 5 times and then im gross and snotty againnnn
all I wanna do is finish cleaning why is this happeninggghhggh???? Is it smth in the air or just the weirdest sickness everugh??!?
Me : Drinking lots of water (nearly 4L a day) so that I don't catch cold in summer.
Some rando lady: Sneezes literally in front of me (she had no public decency to close her mouth. Just a big hachoooo in open air)
Now, me: Suffering from severe throat infection 😭😭😭
If I ever see that lady again, I'm going to punch her in the throat so she knows how it feels when I'm trying to swallow food and water. Violence is the only answer, people.

Description: Jamie gets a cold in the summer. As usual she ignores being sick, angering Nikolai and Price.
Day 4;
"I won't leave you." | Dragged | Blankets
Ao3 or under the cut
Waking up sick in June, which is uncommon, irritates Jamie. Her throat is sore, and she expects it to worsen throughout the day. Jamie still gets ready for the day despite this.
No one says a thing at breakfast. No one knows yet. The warmth of the coffee feels good as the liquid goes down Jamie’s throat. Once done, she goes to the gym as planned.
After a good forty-minute workout, Jamie walks down the hall. She feels worse than when she wakes up, but heads to the hangar. Nikolai, who notices how unwell Jamie looks stops her.
“You’re going back to bed,” Nikolai says. “I’ll drag you if I have to.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
Within seconds, Nikolai drags Jamie down the hall.
As the two walk down the hall, Price notes how Nikolai is holding Jamie’s wrist. He knows Nikolai wouldn’t do that without a reason, He follows them.
When the trio reaches Jamie’s room, Price thinks he knows why Nik is dragging Jamie with him. The three enter the room.
“What’s this about?” Price asks.
“She’s sick,” Nik replies.
Price looks at Jamie, noting her pale face. He feels her forehead—it's a little warm, meaning she has a cold. He sighs, realizing the issue is, as usual, that Jamie gets sick and ignores it. That explains Nik’s choice to be rough with her. Nik continues to be rough and pushes Jamie onto the bed. He moves her legs onto the bed, making her lie down. He then grabs the blankets Jamie keeps on the bed for when the air conditioner makes it too cold in her room.
“You’re staying here.” Price watches Nik cover Jamie with the blankets. “I won’t leave you because we know you won’t stay put.”
Price knows this seems excessive for someone sick with a cold, but Nik is right. Price suspects Jamie had just finished training when Nik saw and and how unwell she looks. Price leaves the room, leaving Nik to deal with her stubbornness. Nik goes into the bathroom, knowing Jamie has a thermometer in a drawer.
Nikolai frowns reading the number on the thermometer. A low grade fever. He questions if Jamie had this when she woke up and ignored it, or this is because of her working out rather than resting?
“Why can’t you rest like everyone else does when sick?"
“It’s a cold. I’m fine.”
Nikolai sighs, frustrated. This is how Jamie is. She always tries to ignore when she’s sick, no matter how many times her friends lecture her. Why Nik resorts to babysitting her.

This head cold has been wearing me out so much. I'm asleep almost any time I can be. I'm only awake to do things like self care and go tackle work and such. And if my cough dies down, you bet your ass I'm gonna turn into the sneeziest person alive. This morning I inadvertently made a huge spectacle of myself on call with my partner. I started doing the little grunts I do when my nose is so miserably itchy (which hasn't been captured in a WAV, actually). He could hear me pawing at my nose and trying to burrow into my bed as I do with an itchy nose (for some reason). He asked what was wrong and I said, "I guh-gotta sneeze..." He said I should if I had to. I told him I felt embarrassed since he was on call with me. In spite of that I spent the next 45 minutes sniffling, sneezing, and groaning. He felt so bad, but found it really adorable. My nose is just so damn itchy. This is the sneeziest head cold I've had since last November. It's either so bad on its own or because it's a summer cold. And I just got out a fresh handkerchief but it's already so messy...
