Raon sits in the corner or the bakery, sipping his new favourite drink – Wuju called it a cinnamon latte – and continues with his daily study of the human race. 

A pair of them had come running in just moments ago, holding hands and giggling, as they tried to get away from the sudden downpour. 

They are dressed in the same clothes: a white button up shirt, a black skirt, white socks, and black dress shoes. He knows they are from a place called high school. Raon still doesn’t know why it’s called high school when it’s downhill, but Wuju had only laughed at him when he asked. 

Raon watches as Wuju smiles at the two humans and talks them through the menu. The corners of his eyes crinkle with each smile directed towards them, and Raon feels a little out of sorts, but that quickly goes away when Wuju spies Raon from the corner of his eye and gives him a quick wink. 

Raon takes another happy sip of his drink. 

It’s warm and the smell of cinnamon curls around him like a dream. 

Wuju is still talking to the two humans. It’s only been minutes, but it feels like it’s been hours. 

Why are they taking so long? 

Raon can’t distinguish any of the words being communicated under the dull drumming on the roof and the roar of the sky. The rain is distracting and Raon wants to go outside to hear what the clouds have to say – without the wood and the stone and the glass of the bakery in his way – but he wants to hear what Wuju is saying even more. 

Wuju is smiling again. 

Laughing. 

There is a sudden crack and a loud rumble of thunder above them, and the rain comes down even harder. 

The lights flicker, briefly. 

Raon takes another sip from his mug. This time the cinnamon in his drink feels sharper. Less comforting.

Raon narrows his eyes and watches as Wuju goes behind the counter and pulls out two small plates. Wuju grabs a triangular cake server and carefully sets a slice of dark brown cake onto each plate. He loads them onto a serving tray and walks towards the two humans who are now seated at a table on the other side of the room.

Wuju places one of the plates on their table and turns towards Raon. 

Something in Raon unfurls at the soft upward curl of Wuju’s lips. He’s so busy staring that he hardly notices the second cake has been placed in front of him until those lips are suddenly brushing near his face and across his cheek. 

“Sorry. Were you getting hangry?”

Raon tilts his head away from Wuju and slowly repeats the new unfamiliar word. “Hangry?” 

“Yeah,” Wuju is laughing again and Raon beams. “Hangry. When you’re so hungry you’re angry. You looked like you wanted to eat something, and then you wouldn’t stop glaring.” 

Raon nods, happy to have learned more Earthling lingo. 

Wuju settles himself down in the chair beside Raon and bumps their shoulders together. 

“Here,” he says and shovels a forkful of cake into Raon’s mouth.

That sucks. Even wow has left RP servers separate to theoretically avoid this kind of asshattery.

They were technically separate and/or labelled until this last server merge. The level of asshattery directed toward RPers since then has been ridiculous. For the first few months on our server -- where the RP server merged to -- idiots in gen chat were telling anyone who asked about RP guilds that all the RP stuff had moved to the other server. Total load of bull, but typical of the attitude of most of the merged folks.

I haven't even looked to see how bad it is...

The exploration part is easy; I did that last night.

The rep grind looks like all the others. Hopefully it won’t be too bad.

The real question mark I think is going to be the invasion scenarios. From what I read, they don’t even start for another week, and they seem really gated, with several steps to complete before you get credit for finishing a zone. And you have to do all 4 zones (excluding Suramar). So I think that’s going to be the part that takes the longest.

Truth.  Also, said comm had gone through some serious wank before we took it over, going back years to the "golden era" where everything was supposedly love and harmony.  It's all in the archives if you know where to look.
