#submission tips

I’ve been submitting poetry, fiction, (and a whole ass book) to magazines and websites. While I still don’t know if I’m any good at querying, I have been published twice on two different mags, so I thought I would share the tips that helped me!

Polish

First thing first: prepare your piece! Write something in your best voice/ style. (I’ll do a separate post about what exactly is more probable to be accepted or sold).

Then, make sure your manuscript:

has page numbers

is generally typed in 12 pt Times New Roman (or follow their guidelines)

‘s first lines are indented (this doesn’t work for poetry! Indent only if you want in that case)

is as perfect as you can get it

carries your name and title of the piece on every page. Ex.: Name Last Name / Title / 1

I’ve just reached over 1000 followers.

This is a very exciting milestone for my blog and considering I’ve only had this blog since May 20th 2018, this is amazing. 

Remember, my ask box is always open (with anonymous as an option) and so is my submission section. Also a little tip, if you would like to make a submission but would prefer to remain anonymous you can do so by first logging out of Tumblr and then finding my blog’s submission page and following the prompts. Feel free to also DM me if you wish to talk as long as you keep it civil and SFW.

I actually have TONS of flowers being burned on my blog, it seems like its a very common theme among pyros. If you check the tag “flower” or “fire flower” or “rose” you might get to see some.I have a few churches too if I recall.

As for what I’d personally like to see, I actually have a post with submission tips which can be found here on what not to submit. If it doesn’t fall within these confounds then I’d love to see it.

The only thing I really like to see are things I’ve never seen, which aren’t already on my blog. I get sent a lot or repeats.

So send me ANYTHING (not on my NO list) and it would make me happy.

Hey Pyros, thanks to all the people who go out of their way to send me a little of their time and give me some wonderful submissions.

I’d just like to say that although I may not be able to accept every submission, I appreciate every submission. 

So a heads up though for people who do want their submissions to go through.

Images may not contain any of the following:

 - Self-harm

 - Depictions of violence and harm (such as people actually on fire)

 - Full nudity (some partial nudity may be approved, but this is rare)

 - Political imagery (such as flag burning)

This list is blog specific but I hope it stands to reason, the standard no-nos also apply.
