That poll about multiplying by 9 brought back the memory that I learned the multiplication tables semi-subliminally from a set of 45 rpm records one of my teachers used to play in the background during silent study time. To this day, when I have to multiply two numbers, sometimes I'll hear the relevant piece of music in my head. The Fives record skipped at the end, so any time I have to know 5 times 12, "Five time twelve is sixty!" will play over and over in my head until I replace it with something else.
