Style Resolutions: Five Clothing Items to Get Rid of for a Fresher Closet in 2018!
“When we were small children, we all played dress-up and everybody had a good time. So, why stop?” –Iris Apfel
As with anyone who advocates having a better style profile in the New Year, you would probably have a set of fashion and style resolutions which you ought to staunchly follow. After all, for every new year, it is always out with the old and in with the new and as you usher in the new year, it is best to first get rid of the sartorial and clothing items that are holding you back before developing a new and keener sense of fashion. Apart from clearing out the things that are cluttering your closet and freeing up valuable space, it would also help you reassess and reevaluate the fashion and style choices you make. By this time of the year, you should endeavor to get rid of the closet-wasters in your wardrobe whether they may be wholesale clothing buys, impulse purchases or simply things you are holding on to out of sentimental reasons. Sure, some of these things may have meaning to you but they have no real value other than the pure nostalgia they bring you when you see them.
In anticipation of the new year, make a conscious effort to have a better wardrobe by giving it a refreshing update—not by adding things but by taking away all those that are unnecessary, unwearable and old. If you have no idea where to begin, here are some of the things you ought to be getting rid of now:
 1.)   The shrunken hoodie
You might have bought it once on vacation as a token souvenir in a gift shop but found that you have not really used it ever since it shrunk in the wash. Be honest with yourself, are you ever going to wear that hoodie again? What are the chances you would be wearing it again? The answer is likely never, so toss it instead.
2.)Â Â Â The Trending Graphic Tee
Let us face it, you bought it because you caved in to the trend. As everyone was sporting it, you believed you would look cool while wearing it as well. Now that the trend has died down, you are stuck with a shirt whose band emblazoned in front is not even one you recognize. You do not even skate, so why retain the shirt?
3.)Â Â Â The Beat-up Bag that is collecting dust underneath your drawers
You have been meaning to replace your trust work tote, but you have not really found the time to do so. As you are spending the remaining days of the year dedicating yourself to a better wardrobe, you should start by throwing away things that no longer serve any purpose to you—much like your beat-up work tote does. It is best if you finally replaced it for the brand new year with a new and sturdier one.
4.)Â Â Â The white shirt that is not as white anymore
Once upon a time, this shirt was pristinely white and used to be your go-to shirt for anything. Owing to continuous weeks of use, it has lost its natural color and has now faded into a dull off-white color. Even worse, it has started to stretch and sag that it now resembles more like a dress than a shirt. Is there any good reason why it is occupying space in your closet? Very unlikely—so it is best to get rid of it now.
5.)Â Â Â Black pants that have faded
When it was brand new, it looked crisp and fresh. But after being worn frequently (or left in your closet to rot), your pair of pants that once was the darkest shade of black is now ashen at best and gray at worse. If they have faded in certain areas or have faded unevenly, maybe it is time to start finding a new pair and toss out your existing one.

NEW POST : Vimbai Mutinhiri Shares Her Style Resolutions!
As I reflect on some of my most memorable style moments over the years, I’m overwhelmed by a sense of disappointment in myself – not that any of the looks were that terrible (yes, I’ve had some pretty yucky worst dressed moments), but more so because I barely see any of my personality. (more…)
