Jacobus and Viktoria sprinted through the burning village. The pair were cut off from the main body of the Black and Reds that had accompanied them to this feudal world. Some nonsense about heretical blood-cults and daemon worship had brought the two forces of Guard and Inquisition to the world. Unfortunately, Inquisitor Viktoria's intelligence proved to be spot on.
The inferno that had engulfed the village threatened to overtake the inquisitor and the commissar. However, several crimson-clad cultists with all manner of sharp-pointy weaponry stood in front of them, obviously with malicious intent.
Jacobus roared his hatred to the enemy, and dove in with his power-sword.
Viktoria rolled her eyes. "Show-off!" And the two set about their bloody work. Cultists roared in response, with such varied cries as "BLOOD!" and "SKULLS!" Jacobus felled one with his power sword, before another died to the screech of the Commissar's boltgun. Viktoria dove in with both of her swords flashing in the conflagration. Cultist after cultist entered the fray, only to end up in various states of dismemberment.
The crimson tide of cultists continued to flow, however many the loyalist pair killed. "Inquisitor, in case we fall today, I just wanted you to-" Jacobus shot a heretic, point blank, shattering the cultist's jaw "to know that it has been an honor."
Viktoria snapped her twin blades together, separating one blood-soaked warrior from his head. "So it has, Jacobus. Emperor keep you." Strange, she thought. Usually she would have shown-
At that point, several cultists ran past the crowd in the distance, screaming "The Gods have abandoned us!" After them, came a sister, her pristine armor stained almost entirely red. "WHERE'S VIKKY?!?!?!" She roared.
"Oh Emperor help us......" muttered Viktoria.
The remainder of the cultists had been cowed, and Viktoria resumed her slaughter. Jacobus had renewed his strength, it had seemed, and gave a hearty laugh as he dove back into the swath of cultists that remained. What few that were able to escape into the burning wreckage of the village did so, and their fellows found themselves trapped between two competent loyalists on one side and a wrathful battle sister on the other. When Viktoria met up with her sororitas bodyguard, not a single cultist remained standing in the plaza.
"Vikky!" screamed the exuberant sister, whose expression turned to one of indignation when she set her eyes on the commissar-captain.
Viktoria recognized this, and acted with practiced speed to stop the inevitable. "He's alright, Heidi, he's on our side, he's a friend, PLEASE don't shoot him!" Heidi frowned, but shrugged, apparently content with her handler's explanation. Jacobus, not knowing what to think, only offered the sage wisdom of "Shall we see ourselves out of this exquisitely lit place?"
