Kjell Varvin is an artist based in Norway. He composes and decomposes combinations of disparate objects in a white corner or on a wall with the specific intent to avoid narrative or symbolic associations. The results are pure compositions located in a three-dimensional space. Compositions which are exactly what they are, objects put in association thanks to their visual values.
A fragile yet stable balance is always sought among the objects in the installations: thin lines colliding into flat surfaces and found objects. The same objects are then recomposed in series which the artist calls “unstable variations” to state that each composition is never a final state, but a point in an evolving line of possibilities.

Today, my friends, a group of people from our office is heading out to the Chicago area, to get set up for B-Fest 2016! If you are attending, my friends, be sure to greet us when you spot one of us! That way, we will know that you care.
B-Fest is being held in the student center on the campus of Northwestern University, and therefore is able to take advantage of the exiting buildings for such amenities as bathroom facilities, food preparation and service, and even parking! What of the people of the future who wish to hold an event, but lack the appropriate location for their event? I predict that help will soon be coming to these poor unfortunates!
I predict that within 20-30 years architects will develop large-scale structures made out of heavy-duty vinyl! These structures will be erected through the use of a fan, which will blow air into the structure, blowing it up like a balloon and allowing the whole thing to be assembled in a matter of hours!
These short-term buildings will be usable for day-long events, as well as temporary shelter for victims of natural disasters! Refugees from Tobago to Tukwila will be able to get a good night’s sleep under a solid roof, thanks to these new structures!
Before too long, I predict that as much as 20% of the US population will be living within these structures at one time, due to escalating levels of poverty, natural disasters, and property values! At this point the ever-widening gap between the haves and the have-nots will be painfully apparent to even the most nearsighted bat, and eventually something will have to be done about this. Maybe.
These new structures will, I predict, be a part of our incredible future that will be too big to deny!
I stumbled upon this awesome blog on modernist buildings and structures in Toronto. It features buildings that are no longer existence as well, which is awesome because it reminds me that old people must remember a different Toronto than the one I live in now. Me gusta!
