Hey song tree! long time no see! It looks like theres a nest near the top again, so I couldnt climb to the top this time but it was still nice. Climbing the song tree is like visiting an old friend, some things are new but overall they have the same feeling!
hi, im a highschool junior researching colleges, and i found that youre a conservation bio major at esf? im super interested in this school (: how do you like it? also whats the difference between a conservation bio major and an environmental bio major? i read the course requirements and couldn't really tell. thanks so much!
Hey! I have no idea how long ago you sent this, but Iβll answer it now!! I love ESF, Iβm presently a senior graduating in May. The campus is a small, very nice community that really loves what we do. I would definitely recommend visiting the campus if you can to check it out. The two majors that people usually canβt tell the difference between is wildlife science and conservation bio. Theyβre basically the same but wildlife science focuses more on teaching practical skills (great for jobs!) for wildlife management (both of endangered species and hunted species). Conservation Bio focuses on big concepts (and some skills) for the management of species in peril. Environmental bio is a more all around general environmental science major. It requires organic chemistry (which conbio doesnβt), but the major is basically so open ended that you can make it whatever you want it to be. If you like water science, you take water themed electives. If you like wildlife, you take wildlife themed electives, Etc. Environmental bio would be more catered for people that want to be really well rounded in a bunch of topics or are super indecisive in their interests. All in all, most of the majors within the Environmental Forest Biology dept. (which houses conbio, wildlife, environmental bio and many more!) severely overlap in the skills and content they teach, so you just find something that suits your interests best right now (and you can always change it later without really becoming behind in your classes).Β
