1. If it’s hard to start studying, then I forcefully put my phone away and stare at something grounding. (For me it’s the sky or a mirror. Being on the phone makes me feel lost, so I look at something that makes me feel like I’m physically there, in the present.) And then it becomes easier to begin studying.
2. I personally can’t and don’t bother forcing myself to memorize things just because I have to. However, I know I’m very emotional and sympathetic. So I try and make myself like the material. I become interested in it. And instead of memorizing, I read it with my whole heart. As if I’m reading a book, or a story about my favorite character. It’s a cunning tactic, since Learning about things that I’m interested in takes barely any time or effort.
3. If I still don’t like the subject I’m learning, I remind myself of the person who I wanna be like (Academically). For me, it’s Leonardo Da Vinci. I might be a little less curious than him. Yet, I can’t help but admire How much he knew. I love how he sought knowledge. And in a way, I want to be as knowledgeable as him.
4. If I’m nervous about a deadline while I’m in middle of the learning process - I turn on my laptop and search up Pomodoro timer or put on ‘study with me’ videos on YouTube. I know I can turn it on my phone, but I get the feeling of security, knowing the timer is staring right into my face. That way I can check it without worrying (most of the time I don’t bother checking it, cuz I know it’s right there).
5. If for some reason, I dislike the quiet atmosphere in the room and can’t concentrate- I turn on jazz music on a low volume. It helps set the mood.
