The Condiment King

Buddy Standler was once a famous stand-up comedian and a well-known figure in Gotham City. Standler regularly acted as a judge for the annual ‘Laugh-Off’ comedy competition.  

One year The Joker entered this Laugh-Off competition in disguise.  His material was just terrible and Standler and the other judges were savage in leveling their criticism of his act.  An irate Joker swore revenge.  

Utilizing equipment pilfered from The Mad Hatter, The Joker abducted Standler and the other two judges and mind-controlled them into believing they were costumed super villains.  

Standler was made into ‘The Condiment King,’ equipped with a ridiculous outfit and twin spray guns that fired torrents of ketchup and mustard.  This Condiment King ambushed Batman on a rooftop.  He slipped on his own condiments and nearly fell from the roof. Batman caught him before he hit the pavement and from there it was easy to surmise that Standler had been manipulated by mind control.

The Joker was ultimately defeated and the two other judges were rescued.  For unknown reasons, Standler would later resume his guise as The Condiment King and became a villain in ernest.  He was not an especially effective nor dangerous villain, but a villain nonetheless.
