"I don't hate him."

Dad runs a hand over his face, and somehow he looks old suddenly. Or maybe, not old. Just grieving.

"That ring?" He points at my hand, the sapphires catching the light of the candles. "It's Annika's."

"I know," I say, barely able to hide my irritation. "His mother's. He loved her a lot."

"Like he loves you, yadda yadda." Dad gets up from the table, strolling towards the garden, almost nervously. He doesn't look at me, when he goes on. "Do you know how she died?"

I shiver despite the warmth, fold my arms. "I know enough."

"It seems you don't. His mother signed away her life, marrying a Kysil. She died by her husband's hand, tortured and broken. That ring, Danielle, that ring and that family, they're just meaning death. Mykhailo knows that, better than anyone. And he still put it on you. I don't hate him, but I think he's a fool, and so are you for saying yes."

He turns around, looking at me for a long while.

My lips are pressed into a thin line.

Also, sadly I knew he gets killed in Dany's canon, but to me he lives on - including in countless AU's where he is a rather scary, dominant, confident, bisexual total DILF, and seduces plenty young men 😅🫣

"A word, Mr. Kysil," Stuart calls, his voice amiable. Still, the younger man will know what it is. A command.

He sees Mykhailo Kysil's shoulders tense under the perfectly tailored suit, before he turns around with the cocky smile that he's made his trademark. The boy is an arrogant shit, but at least he seems to work for his money. He's intelligent before he's cruel in a sharp contrast to the rest of the Kysil bunch. Stuart had been cautious around him, but he's always considered him a rival - never an enemy.

Until now.

There's a bruise blooming on the side of Kysil's face, disturbing the symmetry, but it brings out the sharp blue eyes even more. "Mr. Hammond," he replies. "What a surprise." It's hard to read him, but Stuart thinks there's something underneath. He's making him nervous. Well, he should.

"Is it?" Stuart raises an eyebrow. "Hm. I don't think it should be. After what you've done to my daughter."
