“Is this really necessary?”
Your voice is muffled and solid, like you’re standing in a sound booth. Except you’re not. You’re wearing his slightly too-big motorcycle helmet.
“Yeah, now quit moving." He grunts, smacking the visor down simply to annoy you.
Streaming isn’t inherently dangerous. But when you approached your boyfriend with a not-so-hypothetical about finally joining him on that side of the camera, Sukuna would only accept it with contingencies.
He was private about his personal life and extra cautious with relationships. So, what if you wanted to join him on stream? Sure. Except you had to be fully covered.
And he meant fully.
His monitor and RGB lights reflected off the sleek black outer shell, swallowing your head. The rest of you were clad in a hoodie. He even made you put gloves on (a little overkill in your opinion).
You sat beside him on another swivel chair, watching him click around on multiple windows across dual curved screens.
“I look ridiculous, Ryo,” you sighed, having to speak up a bit with the helmet muffling your voice.
“Yeah, well, I said one condition, and this is it. And you agreed,” he muttered as he went live. The viewer live count started trickling higher, the chat’s messages kicking up too. It didn’t take long for people to be curious about the oddly anonymous person beside the pink and inked man.
Who dat? PAUSE WHAT Sukuna have my babies WHO SAID THAT THEY CALLED HIM RYO?? AND THEY’RE NOT DEAD????
You blinked from behind the darkened visor, trying to keep up with the rapid flood of comments on one screen as Valorant booted up on the other.
"Hello, hello? Can you hear me? Is this thing on?” I spoke into the little clip mic clipped under the visor. Based on the increased speed from chat (and a mod giving the thumbs up), it seemed so.
King, explain yourself!! THAT’S A GIRL LMAOOO NOT THE GLOVES TOO SUKUNA COME HOME THE KIDS MISS YOU hi hi hiiii
Your gaze dragged to Sukuna and then back to the screen. “So,” you began with a drawl. "Are you going to introduce me or…?”
Sukuna sighed and rolled his eyes as he leaned back in his chair. “Chat, girlfriend. Girlfriend, chat.”
Simple, flat, blunt—typical Sukuna fashion. But you could tell he was a little smug about it, having you on stream and getting to show you off while keeping your identity private. He knew how toxic and ruthless the internet could be, especially surrounding couples. You both knew "private but not secret" was more your speed. A true win-win for him.
You snorted a laugh, raising a brow despite the visor. “Jeez, not all at once.” You teased sarcastically.
Sukuna scoffed with the corner of his lips tugging into a smirk. Just barely. The closest thing he’d show to amusement or—god forbid—a laugh. But after three years together, you knew he was amused from certain tells alone. He just didn’t want to give you the satisfaction of making him laugh, let alone as a digital footprint.
The game loaded and the match started. He called plays occasionally, focusing with those signature narrowed brows and laser-sharp eyes. Thick fingers tapped buttons and moved joysticks on the connected controller, making kill after kill. In a morbid way, it was kind of mesmerizing.
There was a reason he’d made it big in the streaming community. For as mean and arrogant as he was, he could back it up. Sure, he wasn't some world-class player, but he was pretty damn good.
The match soon ended, and they were already queuing up for another. As he waited in the lobby, he decided to entertain Chat and their questions.
"What's her name? My girlfriend," he read and answered gruffly. No hesitation in a way that was a smooth balance of nonchalance and protectiveness. It shouldn't have been as attractive as you thought. Predictably, Chat wasn’t satisfied with his non-answer.
You chuckled softly under the helmet, adjusting the gear as it slid down your nose a little. "You're really not going to give them anything?” you asked lightly. He only gave a quiet but affirmative grunt.
You sighed and shook your head. "Chat, I'd tell you, but I fear the consequences," you replied solemnly, looking at the camera despite the visor. You nudged his knee with yours under the desk and out of frame. "So if they can’t see me and are not given any information about me, what am I supposed to do here?” you asked. The match began, and he leaned forward slightly with a shrug, controller nestled in long, thick fingers, and elbows on his knees.
"See what they’re yapping about," he replied lowly, his character already in motion. “I dunno."
You sighed softly, adjusting the helmet yet again. You watched him play for a while longer before deciding to indulge in chat.
"Alright. What questions do y'all have? Unfortunately, I'll have to decline anything surrounding my identity because, as you’ve heard, I'm practically banned from it," you replied, trying to skim through the already rapid chat. Despite your disclaimer, questions about your name, appearance, and anything that might link you to him were asked anyway.
"How long have you been together?" you read aloud. A quick glance and silence from Sukuna gave you the green light to share. "Three years, going on four," you replied easily.
THREE YEARS?? JFC Leave it to him to hide a whole ass person that long lmao MCSCUSE ME? THREE YEARS?? AND NO MENTION My life is a lie So are y'all looking to adopt?? Asking for me.
The replies made you laugh softly. Sukuna's heart did that sticky inconvenience it always did when he heard that sound. He'd deny it to his grave.
"Your fans are funny,” you mused, searching for more questions.
A soft "tch" came from him. "Don't say that. You'll make their egos too fucking big.”
You could only grin wider, poking his arm just to mess with him.
The questions came and went, ranging from "What's your favorite color?” to “Two chairs: cake or cock. Sit on one and eat the other. Which one is which?” (You wisely skipped that one). The night crawled on, and the stream went forward, chilling out as the hours grew later.
It was past midnight when the second yawn crept up. Sukuna's ears twitched the first time—always attuned to you, even if it never looks like it. You were tired, and it was late.
"This is the last match for tonight,” he informed the chat lazily as his character healed himself somewhere in between buildings. Behind the helmet, you smiled softly, affectionately nudging his knee under the desk and out of view. A silent you don't have to, but thank you.
The match went on, and the late hour began catching up faster and faster. You'd gone from leaning back in your chair to helmet-clad head lolling against his gaming chair, lightly thumping on your shoulder. Your eyes felt heavy, the slow color-changing RGB strip lights a soft visual lullaby. Meanwhile, Sukuna had stiffened slightly when your head lolled again against his shoulder. Chat was a frenzy from the casual and simple PDA, but neither of you could be bothered to notice. His hand briefly squeezed your knee under the desk in silent acknowledgment before fully committing to wrapping up the match and getting you to bed.
"You better not fall asleep on me,” he muttered, thumbs frantically clicking buttons and flicking the joystick. It wasn't as gruff. The edges were softened with late-night care and a love underneath the arrogance the internet knew him for. You knew better.
You hummed softly, lazily, in acknowledgment, but your eyes were shut anyway. "Just resting my eyes,” you murmured. The helmet garbled most of the sound anyway.
He huffed a laugh through his nose. "Yeah? And why don't I believe you?” he teased lowly. He was softer now. As soft as he’d let the internet see him, which comparatively wasn't much. Still gruff, still teasing and poking, but you both knew it was out of affection.
You shrugged a lazy shoulder. “I dunno. But you should because I'm definitely only resting my eyes and not asleep," you doubled down, tired but still matching his energy. "It'd be real awkward to start a fight on stream, you know," you sang quietly.
He scoffed and barely shook his head, carmine eyes still focused on the monitor. Though you felt him shift, leaning back into his chair. He'd say he was getting comfortable and definitely not so you could rest your head more comfortably against his shoulder. Even if you were still wearing his too-big motorcycle helmet.
A/N: Hey y'all 🫣. Don't mind me...just going to slide this across your desk. Also, idk anything about Valorant so excuse any inconsistencies. Also didn't know how to end it (I've been so out of practice).
