Weapon? Â Check. Â Flying? Â Check. Â Refreshingly straightforward mission from Lady Palutena that didnât involve world-hopping and stupid amounts of walking for once? Â Double check.
Everything was lined-up for this to be a good day.
âFinally! Â Itâs been waaaaaaaaaaaay too long since Iâve had a simple patrol mission like this!â Â Pit shouted at seemingly absolutely no one, a wide, breezy grin stretching across his face regardless. Â It felt so good to finally be flying again, having only the endless, blue sky in front, fluffy, welcoming clouds at his side, and only a single patrol mission to worry about. Â That, and his flying time limit, but ah, he could forget about that. Â
âFocus Pit, this isnât just any old patrol.  Iâve sent you investigate a spacial anomaly I picked up recently.  Whatever - or perhaps, whoever - it is, itâs a potential threat that needs taking care of.  Be on guard.â  Never mind.
âCâmon, just give me this one, okay? Â Please, Lady Palutena? Â I just want one, normal missi-â
âWeâre here, Pit!  This is the place!â Â
âUh oh.â  She sounded way too happy about that.
Against his will, Pitâs wings suddenly jerked and changed direction in mid-air, sending him plummeting, headfirst, towards the ground. Â And, like most other times, Pit let out a long, loud scream on his way down. Â Clouds blended with the sky in a mix of blue and white as he was tugged forcefully towards the earth, rushing faster, and faster until-!
All on their own, his wings smoothly pulled up last second, letting the frazzled angel down safely onto the earth.
...He was never going to get used to that, no matter how many times she did it.
Propping himself up on trembling legs, Pit took a good, long moment to absorb his situation; to gather his thoughts, and make sure his brain didnât become scrambled eggs somewhere along the ride.
He took a nice, long moment before opening his mouth.
âL-Lady Palutena~!  Whhhhhhhhy?  Why did you do that?  I think-â
âI think Iâm going to puke.â Yup, there it was. Â He could feel the bile rising.
âHaha, sorry Pit. Â Itâs been so long since Iâve been able to do that. Â Just, oh how did you say it, give me this one?â
All Pit could manage for a reply was a nauseous groan, his stomach doing unpleasant, violent acrobatics.
âPit? Â Are you...okay?â
Nope, he was going down. Â He was bending over, kneeling, locked and loaded. Â Oh dear, here it comes-!
â...Do you need me to bring you back?  Youâll have to fly all the way back here after I retrieve you, but perhaps-â
The very instant he heard Palutenaâs command, Pit snapped to attention, his gaze leaving the foul remains of his fit (could it even be called food? Or at least something that was food at one point?) and landing on...
âWait, is this what weâre looking for, Lady Palutena?â Â This guy? Â Really? Â Pit thought he was looking for some inter-dimensional monster from outer space or something, (that was a normal patrol mission for him) not some random dude wandering around the Overworld!
Then again, Pit of all people should know about the weird, surprising powers that mortals (sometimes) held. Â So if this guy was, in fact, the spacial whats-it, Pit shouldnât underestimate him.
âYes, this is the source of the spacial tear.  Careful Pit, we donât know what heâs capable of, so we need to interrogate him; to figure out his motive for coming here.  If possible, I want to avoid this turning into a combat mission; at least, before we discern if his intentions - if there are any - are malevolent or not.â
âBasically just talk to him, and if heâs threatening, donât hold back.â
âOhhh, okay. Â I can do that!â
Just talk to the guy...Should be easy enough. Â Taking a deep breath and reassuring himself that he could handle whatever this guy could throw at him (probably), Pit started walking right towards the potentially dangerous guy.
...Based on Pitâs previous encounters with weirdly powerful people, he probably was going to be a dangerously huge pain in the butt.
But hey, there was always that chance that this guy could be friendly! Â That possibly alone gave Pit enough confidence to speed up his stride and unleash a wide, heartfelt smile.
âHey there!â Â The angel called, sticking his arm straight in the air and waving.
âWhatâcha doing here all alone? Â Are you lost or something?â
