avaar'ki have a three name system which consists of a birth name, which is given by parents to their offspring when they are born. they then go by this name until they reach roughly half a century old and leave their education behind to pursue their chosen occupation, at which point they receive their caste name and adult name (though they still have roughly a century to go before being considered actual adults).
their adult name serves essentially as a middle name by following the same conventions as their birth name. caste names, however, indicate what profession the avaar'ki has chosen to enter into, and there is a limited number of possible caste names; 'su' indicates an individual in a military or service occupation, 'lu' designates those in scientific or technological fields, 'ulu' is used by those in political or diplomatic occupations, 'ku' is for avaar'ki in 'menial' work such as retail, hospitality, transport, the arts, and similar, and 'zu' indicates criminals.
while it is considered polite in avaar'ki culture to address one by their full name, other species ore used to informality tend to use an avaar'ki's birth name to refer to them simply.

vesperforms typically only have one personal name, though once they take bodies for themselves, some choose new ones to mirror the culture from which their new body originates, while some even choose to adopt the name of the former occupant if they can find it (vesperforms do not have access to the memories of a body's previous occupant), though many consider this to be rather distasteful and it is not a common practice.
due to the fact vesperforms do not have an observable gender in their natural state, all native vesperform names are considered gender-neutral, with most simply choosing to consider themselves the gender of the body they're now in possession of.
