Hussie being the troll he is, I'm pretty sure that he only made the trolls have incestuous slurry after he saw all of the incest panicking that this created. I'm just mainly sad that now all the Rose/Dave fics have address the incest in some way instead of 100% them being ironically adorable together. Also hopefully someone has shown you A baby is You by Toby Radiation Fox already.
Well, the thing is, to me, Rose and Dave or Jade and John is only incest in the finer technical aspects of it. The Westermarck Effect is what makes incest a big no-no for people because essentially, the reason most people don't consider their immediate relatives attractive or viable is because they've been conditioned, by being around them constantly, not to. This can even happen between people who aren't biologically related (like adopted children, or best friends raised together like siblings).
But Dave and Rose, for instance, had they never known about their genetic similarity, wouldn't even pick up on it. In fact, their similarity would actually be beneficial to a cohesive relationship, ironic as it is.
Beyond all that there are so many civilizations that rely on incestuous propagation (for instance, a lot of royal bloodlines rely on sibling marriage and reproduction to keep the lines "pure")—the only universal trait with even the most incest-heavy cultures is that parent-child incest (almost?) never happens functionally (i.e. in a way that benefits the society in question, from a sociological perspective).
Gah so many parenthetical prisons! Anyway.
I, being the kind of person that I am, just love incest as a kink. I like a lot of kinks. Now, to each their own, if you don't like incest that's all well and good. It just seems moot to argue about it in the realm of Homestuck when you have an entire race that is technically related.
