#strange paths

It’s currently on sub so I can talk about it a liiiittle bit!

Strange Paths is about a cryptid hunting vlogger named Aggie who goes to a small town in Washington, chasing rumors of a cryptid called the Rambler. She meets up with a local park ranger who claims to have seen the creature and rival blogger Bea from BeaTV, and they decide to hike Mount Burrow together.

Only to discover that the Rambler is very real, but it’s not the worst thing on the mountain.

It’s a fun story! I got to talk about cryptids and I learned a lot about hiking and camping so that was a good time (I live in a big hiking area but I’ve not gone in recent years, this gave me the push!)

The most fun part has been friends reading it and going “omg let’s go hiking let’s go caving” until suddenly they’re not suggesting that LOL

“Urgent care,” Aggie said. “No, first I’m going to eat my weight in fries, then a shower, and then urgent care.” “I would urge you to go to urgent care first,” Reed said. “Was that a pun?” Aggie asked. Reed shrugged. “Yeah. Really bad one. Sorry."

Strange Paths WIP intro

Genre: creature feature horror (with some sapphic thrown in there because it’s me)

Status: drafting

Agnes is a cryptid hunter, traveling around the country with her camera to record her hunts for her vlog. When a viewer asks for her to check out a cryptid she’s never even heard if I’m the Pacific Northwest, she’s more than happy to hike out to find any evidence.

But she’s not the only vlogger that’s been called there. Vee does more informative videos, but she is going on site for the first time.

They decide to team up with a park ranger named Reed to try and find the rambler, a creature that has been terrorizing the woods since the town was a logging settlement.

But things are strange, and getting stranger. Someone is stalking them, herding them towards the lava tube tunnels that run through the mountain.

“You’re the park ranger,” Bea said. “And the guy that does this hike once a day. How many bunnies are murdered on your route?” “When you say it like that, it sounds like I murdered them, which I haven’t, and wouldn’t. I’m a hiker, not a hunter,” Reed said. “My uncle took me hunting once and I was traumatized for life. Never again.” “Could say you’re a lover, not a fighter?” Aggie joked, poorly. “Yes, a lover of nature, and hiking, and anything outdoors,” Reed said. “Just so you both know, I won’t fight a bear for you. I will run. Maybe cry.”
