What a pretty pet…. Bambi…. Steve falls into a shallow and unnecessary half-sleep with a covetous feeling smothering him.

It’s here that has Bucky stopping mid-step. He’s never seen eyes so blue as these ones, shining like gems lit from within. They reflect like the eyes of a predator in the dark, piercing and all-seeing. Bucky feels trapped.

The man smiles, and Bucky catches a glimpse of too-sharp canines. “Where you goin’ in such a hurry?”

“Home,” Bucky says stupidly. “It’s ten o’clock.”

The man’s eyes flick over Bucky’s face, assessing. “There’s plenty of night left.”

Bucky swallows hard, and his body feels strange. Because he’s tired, he thinks, because he worked all day. He’s heavy in a drugged sort of way, leaden and fuzzy. He looks up into those eyes, and he feels his awareness drifting.
