I'm not sure straight people belong at pride
K so I am absolutely not saying anything about transfolk or bisexuals. But I have an anecdote
K so it's pride month. I have a friend whose cishet. Today she wore sweat pants and a matching shirt with a rainbow ribon on them. She basically said she was doing it because of pride even though it's straight.
K I love my friend, and she's super nice. She's so nice she saw another girl who was wearing rainbow armbands.
That's where the conversation ended, but I'm assuming this girl was lgbtqia+. It's not a stretch to say she's probably wlw. And me, a lesbian, watched this. And I have to assume that my straight friend sent the signal that she was also a lesbian and this would have lifted the spirits of the girl I assume was gay. She would have seen my friend as a potential girlfriend, when the Lesbian dating pool is incredibly small.
I just don't think it's good for cishet people to barge in, steel our symbols, and give false hope.
Especially when I, an available Lesbian, was standing quietly a few feet away.
I am afraid of coming out, I am strictly closeted. But my straight friend does not have that same fear when wearing a rainbow. and that's why straight people don't belong at pride.
Does anyone want to give me feedback on my writing? Like a beta-reader of sorts?

'Is you beard as soft as it looks?' She asks. They're standing closer than they ever stood, staring at each other. There is a twinkle in his eyes that captivates her. 'Yeah, of course, I take good care of my beard,' he murmures. They don't need to talk very loud to understand each other, even though there is a lot of noise in the background. By staring into his eyes, it all falls away and it seems, for a brief moment, as if they are the only ones there. 'Can i touch it?' She asks, permission for something else, she did not know yet what. He nodds, ever so sightly. Slowly, she lifts her hand, touching his beard. It is as soft as she imagined, laying alone in her bed, thinking of him and his beard. She carefully caresses his cheek before griping a little deeper, gently bringing his face closer to hers. And when their lips touch, she feels sparks fly.
