Kaladin has to come to terms what it means to be Stormblessed. The narrative goes out of its way to show him as a legendary figure within both the human and singer armies. For the humans he inspires heroism to a fault, as seen with Adin trying to emulate him and bond a spren. Then he develops a specific reputation amongst the Fused for his battle prowess and sense of honor. It all gets wrapped up in the conflict between Kaladin and the reality that he can't be the perfect representation of Stormblessed, both for forced retirement and Teft reasons. Ultimately, he has to cede his place of power and leap after Lirin, accepting one loss in order to act and prevent another.

Raboniel and Navani have a really interesting back and forth with their titles. Navani begins as Queen of Urithiru but has that station taken away during the towers occupation. Raboniel takes advantage of having her as a hostage but in doing so, allows Navani to accept her skill as a scholar. As the Lady of Wishes, Raboniel becomes a patron and gives Navani the title of Voice of Lights, an external validation of her scientific credentials. Then there is the whole thing with Raboniel having retitled herself to no longer be the Lady of Pains, signifying how the millenia have changed her outlook on life and the war. Both characters have their senses of self shift away from the power they hold over others and towards what they can provide. The way a new title affects how they are able to see themselves really reminds me of the whole thing about how anti-Voidlight is the same tone as Voidlight but played at a different time with Intent. They aren't different people really but, through the choices they make, they learn how to see themselves with new purpose.

Shallan's budding sense of self as something Formless. A representation of how she feels like her own mind lacks shape, that she merely pretends to be a good person. The culmination to this arc being that she starts to genuinely believe the lies her brain is feeding her about being inherently selfish and untrustworthy. Veil has to confront Shallan as she is free falling into the delusion of Formless. Shallan is backed into a corner and forced to accept that she can be loved despite her lies and that most of her genuine mistakes were the direct result of being an abused child rather than a ruthless killer.

Jasnah, in what little we see of her, has to establish an expectation for herself and the army what it means to have an Alethi Queen in Exile.

Taravangian refers to himself as the Bearer of Agonies, which is a title also held by Taln. Now I'm not super confident I see what Sanderson is going for with that parallel but I'm sure the Taln flashback book is going to to be impossibly tragic.

Lezian establishes the very tradition of Fused titles when he died and became The Pursuer. Kaladin defeating him is indicative of both the emotional burden implied by being Stormblessed and how allowing yourself to be reduced to a concept such as "kills everyone who kills him". Lezian's refusal to allow himself to change it met with a change of title regardless. He loses everything that it means to be himself when he is labeled The Defeated One.
