I wrote this on Discord and I still stand behind it
The moments I finally felt endeared to Tyrael in all of this, were the times when Lorath interacts with him with this pure care and adoration and Tyrael is receptive and kind, but ultimately still alien to a degree. The pause before hugging him back even though he loves him with his whole angelic being, the way he just let Lorath write on his palm when he forgot, both softly embarrassed and eternally grateful to have him, the way he thanked him for making him human. The fear and shame when telling you, a complete stranger, about the loss of his memories of being an angel, what he couldn't tell Lorath because he wants Lorath to see him as capable, when Lorath actually loves him for being human. This is the core of the story. This is your emotional anchor. This has always been the core of Tyrael, ever since he decided to give up everything for humanity. Not just his fall, but also when he died for them by destroying the Worldstone. Do not sideline your emotional core by trying to push some kind of non-romance onto the characters.
