#stood still

I am learning to stand still.

It is not as easy as one may reason.

To barely breathe, to slow your thoughts

And focus on the sound of the current season.

I stood still this morning.

There was hardly a sound to be heard.

I strained for something to hold on to..

I suppose it was the being quiet I had to learn.

I stood still today.

I heard the leaves start to fall

Slowly I inhaled and exhaled with eyes closed

Not to distract myself from it all

I stood still tonight

I bent my head as far back as it would go.

I stared at the stars and held my breath.

Across the whole sky the yellow-tailed star glowed…

I am learning to stand still.

It is when I listening more intently

Not to what is in front of me

But to where God is quietly leading.
