in august 1969, the rolling stones find themselves in the company of ethan russell, jo bergman, glyn johns and stanley booth, rehearsing for the upcoming american tour in, as they named it, stephen still’s oriole house in los angeles. 

as russell and bill wyman remember, life in california felt more like vacations and never ending parties than hard work. 

stanley booth recalls mick asking phil kaufman’s girlfriend to inform keith the rehearsals had begun for the day and keith responding “yeah? tell them they play great.”
