Plant of the Day
Sunday 5 October 2025
Still providing a food source for the pollinators Hylotelephium × mottramianum 'Herbstfreude' (hybrid stonecrop, Sedum 'Autumn Joy') is in full flower. This herbaceous perennial forms a clump of stems with fleshy, glaucous green leaves and the old flowers create winter texture.

So many pictures from Descanso gardens, I'm forced to triple up on some posts. Otherwise, can you imagine an infinite number of flower posts, typing away past midnight, day and night, forever.
Here is Bee and Stonecrop The Gathering
I recently made an illustration for Stonecrop gardens and bartered for a two year family membership. Yesterday was their members-only spring open house. It’s as lovely as ever.
We won a stack of 8’ bamboo poles and daffodils. This garden is not only beautiful but exactly in our growing zone and altitude so any ideas we get from there, work in our garden.
