Hey, guys!

My interview with Andy from STLV is up and I’d love for you to give it a read!

Yes, we talk about DS9 and Garak, but lots of his other projects too - including a new project that he hadn’t publicized yet!

The guys over at the 7th Rule were good enough to have me on their program, and it was an absolute treat to speak with them about DS9, STLV, and all things Trek. 

Time was limited and this is me attempting to be restrained and not talk TOO much... But there is so much more I wanted to say about our community, of which I am so proud to be a part.

I've always been immensely proud of being a Trekkie. We are a community of do-ers. Almost every Trek fan I know does something proactive either in their career or in their free time, or even both, to make our world a better place and to work towards a future where everyone is accepted and loved. I have friends that volunteer on suicide prevention hotlines, that volunteer with underprivileged children, all different kinds of things. I have friends that have become published authors thanks to their experiences writing fanfiction. Despite a handful of bad experiences, I've always found the Star Trek community to be a place of inclusivity and progressive thinking. We're all different, but we all have a common set of core beliefs - and there is something in the franchise for everyone, even if we all have different opinions about the individual series.

“What the hell are you doing here, Picard?”

I'm back from what was easily my best STLV experience to date.  I've got a bit of the "post-con malaise," but not nearly as much as previous years.  I attribute this to the incredible healing powers of spending 5 glorious days in the company of my squad.   As much as I love seeing so many of the wonderful cast members that have meant so much to me over the years, as fun as it is making new friends (and I made A LOT this year), and as pleasant as it is walking into that convention hall and seeing so many familiar faces and getting that feeling of "home..." None of that compares to the joy I experienced just being in the company of some of the most badass, funny, insightful, and genuinely kind women I know.  

It was my absolute honor to have this time with you.  We shared some very powerful moments and we laughed a lot.  These are memories I will cherish for a lifetime.  Some people don't understand why Trekkies flock to these events, year after year; well, this is why.

Now, it's back to "Real Life" and each of us individually creating the changes we wish to see in the world.  We're artists and educators and advocates, and we all have greatness inside of us.  Time to project that greatness.  Though we have differing passions and projects, together our goals weave a tapestry for a better future for humanity... You know, IDIC.
