the next morning dipper woke up at 6am. he knew ford always woke up at 5am. but dipper didn't want to get up that early.

ford was sitting at the kitchen table staring at his coffee. he didnt seem to notice dipper.

dipper: um, grunkel ford?

ford jumped a little bit.

ford: oh, dipper you scared me. what are you doing up this earliy?

dipper: I just wanted to talk to you about autism. I figured it would be easier without Stan or Mabel here.

ford: oh, um, I don't know, you-you should sleep. you have had a long day. and you don't need to do this for me.

dipper: I know I don't need to, I want to. I think I could help you understand yourself a little bit... but if you're not ready to talk that's okay.

ford: [sigh] ok. but, I think it would be best if Stan was here. he really helps me when I have a meltdown. so it would be good for him to learn as well. and I think mabel would love to be here to offer encouragement.

dipper: I didn't mean to leave them out, I just thought it would be easier on you.

ford: I know dipper. and it's ok to assume that. but I have been really trying to open myself up to my family. so I think this is a good step. now go back to bed and we will all talk in the morning.

dipper, okay. see you later!

dipper went back to bed, but couldn't sleep. once mabel woke up they both went down stairs to see that Stan made stancakes, bacon, and eggs.

ford: good first morning back in gravity falls! I made you hot chocolate!

Stan: I didn't trust him to make anything else.

the kids giggled and took a seat. they all eat together untill there was no more food left. then after they were all done, ford looked at dipper.

ford: okay dipper, now is a good time to talk.

dipper had a wide smile on his face, Stan grind knowing that they weren't leaving the table anytime soon.

dipper: my friend said that a lot of people think autism is caused by vaccines, but that's not true. its really just a neurological disorder. there is nothing that causes it. but it is genetic. so sice you have it, there is a chance that Mabel or my kids might have it.

ford: ugh. I'm so sorry.

stan: sixer what did we talk about? its not your fault.

dipper: yeah. the chance isn't very high anyway.

stan: not helpin kid.

dipper: um but I wouldn't be upset at all if I had a kid with autism. and uhh.

Mabel: what dipper is trying to say. it that people with autism can accomplish great things. and you don't have to feel bad.

ford: heh. thank you kids. you can continue dipper.

dipper: my friend said that meltdowns can happen at anytime without warnings. and you can sometime hurt yourself. has that ever happened to you grunkel ford?

ford: unfortunately. i-i hit my head a lot, and pull my hair, I also flap my hands so much it hurts my wrists.

dipper: my friend tought me that he squeezes his hands together as hard as he can instead.

ford: interesting. I'll try that next time.

dipper talked for 2 hours, then when he was done ford went into his bedroom and crushed. Stan saw his crush.

Stan: you ok sixer?

ford: yeah there was just a lot of information at once.

stan: the kid is just trying to help.

ford: I know. but that was just a lot of human interaction. and a lot of masking.

stan: hey, you don't need to mask around the kids. they love you and won't judge you, or make fun of you. they will probably just get used to it , like I did. I don't even notice when you stimm half the time. you just need to lower your shilde. you spent the last 40 years masking who you are. but now we are here for you, and we won't let you go through this alone.

ford: thank you Stanley.

stan: no prob. you need to flap now?

ford: I think I want to try what dipper told me.

stan: ok, put your hands together, and push as hard as you can.

ford did this a few times.

ford: i-its not working its not working I need to flap I need to flap I NEED TO FLAP!

stan: ok ok calm down. just flap. its ok. you're ok.
