“Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree At The Christmas Party Hop…” I faintly heard as I was waking up for the day. I was also smelling some cinnamon rolls, pancakes, waffles, coffee, the works!
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas and the movies and music that follows. But, to be woken up by it isn’t exactly what I had in mind. While I love putting it on first thing in the morning, I also love putting it on when I’m making breakfast, which is about thirty minutes to an hour after I wake up.
So, after I put on my sweatshirt and brushed my teeth, I went downstairs to see who made the house smell so good this morning.
First person I saw was my mom, which is to be expected. She always cooked breakfast during the Christmas season, but especially on Christmas morning.
Second person, my dad; always right beside my mom. Their love is what I always wanted. Especially during the holidays.
I knew there was a third person roaming around the house, considering it was our house… well, one that we were currently renting.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” Mom said.
“Morning,” I replied. “Have you seen–” Being startled by someone picking me up and spinning me around, I squealed in shock and surprise. Once the person put me down, I turned to look at the culprit, and was met with those whiskey colored eyes that I loved oh so much.
“Stiles!” I exclaimed, playfully but lightly slapping him in the chest. “You scared me!”
Laughing, he replied, “Sorry. I went upstairs to see if you were still sleeping, but you were already out of bed.”
“Probably because she smelled food,” Dad said. “She only gets out of bed if food is being made.” Shocked face and all, I turned to my dad and said, “That’s not true!” At the look Mom gave me, I relented. “Okay, a little true, but–”
Stopping my words at all three of them laughing at me, I joined in on it because it really was true.
As the laughter was quieting down, I looked at all the food as the music continued playing in the background. “Okay, first off; Mom, thanks for cooking breakfast.”
“You’re welcome, honey,” she replied.
“Secondly, who turned the music up to the point where it actually woke me up?” Looking around the room, I came back to those eyes I loved. “Stiles,” I warned. “Can we turn this down or off until I’m fully awake?”
“Nope,” he said. “Stays on.”
“But–”
“My house, my rules. The Christmas music stays on.”
“Uhm, one; it’s our house that we’re renting, and two; it’s not even 8 AM yet.”
Chucking, he said, “You’re so cute.” He leaned forward and kissed my forehead, leaving his lips there as he whispered, “It’s 8:45AM.”
“And we’re not opening gifts, why?” I sassed.
Mom, Dad and Stiles all laughed as I went into the kitchen to get a plate of food and a cup of coffee with my favorite dairy-free creamer. Sitting down in the living room on Christmas morning with breakfast and family was a tradition that I wouldn’t stop doing, even if Stiles or any other partner didn’t do it.
Everyone else was sitting down in their own spots as I was picking a movie to watch while we ate. Movie choice of the morning; Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The live action one, not the original animated one.
The movie got the part where the Mayor gives The Grinch the razor when we all decided to go ahead and open our presents after Sheriff, aka Stiles’s dad showed up. Of course, Mom, Dad and Sheriff had to bring our presents over.
From all three parents, Stiles got a bunch of Star Wars stuff for his little man cave. I got some jewelry, notebooks and pens, fuzzy socks, and some other girly things.
I got my parents their favorite obsessions, as well as Sheriff, and Stiles did the same. After we were all finished with the presents, we cleaned up before all three parents said their goodbyes and went home.
Stiles and I showered before we started getting ready for the rest of our day together. He was acting all giddy after he told me to do my everyday makeup and hair, so I knew I had to get to the bottom of it. He was dressed in his normal clothes with his hair styled the same way he did it every morning.
Once I had met him downstairs, I looked at him as he smiled at me while holding his hand out for me to take. After I did, we walked out of the house together and to the Jeep, where he opened the door for me and closed it after I got in and situated.
Somehow, I knew he had something planned because he knew how much Christmas was my favorite time of the year. We pulled up to one of our favorite restaurants in Beacon Hills, all sorts of cars… not there. This place was usually packed with cars on Christmas day.
Stiles ended up helping me out of the Jeep, taking my hand and lacing our fingers together while walking me to the front door. We walked in and I got the biggest surprise of my life; seeing my best friend, Allison Argent.
I hadn’t seen her in months because all of us went our separate ways for college… except Stiles and I. We went to the same one.
Tearing up, I placed my hand over my mouth while walking towards her, hugging her once I reached her. And to more of my shock and surprise, everyone else was here, too! Scott, Isaac, Ethan and Aiden, Lydia, Derek, Liam, Mason, Corey, Hayden, Jackson, everyone! Including the parents!
We all had a blast at the party. A surprise Christmas party, if you will. I didn’t even know who set it all up until Stiles and I got home.
“Did you like the party?” he asked.
Nodding my head with a smile, I replied, “I had a blast.” “Good. I was hoping you would.”
Confused, I asked, “What do you mean by that?”
He shrugged while putting his arms around my waist, “I knew how much seeing everyone would mean to you, so I set something up. Thankfully everyone was free this afternoon.”
Smiling while putting my hands on the back of his neck, I said, “I can’t believe you did all this, for me.”
“Well, I love you and just wanted you to have the best day,” he said.
“I did,” I nodded. “And I love you, too.”
