     One of Peri’s biggest concerns has always been how people would react if they knew everything about her world. Not just the surface level strangeness or minor divergences or ‘physical anomalies,’ the heavy stuff, the scary stuff, the stuff that still haunts her when she closes her eyes and the silence leaves room for thoughts she doesn’t desire.

     This especially applies to other Stevens. Especially especially ones that seem to be relatively happy, with peaceful worlds, kind friends, and bright futures ahead. Or so she thinks, anyway.

     Ranadot worries a lot that the circumstances of her timeline would rub their misery off on him, and she doesn’t want that. She wants him to live his best life, never having to worry about some messy distant timeline where everything went to heck and some interdimensional eldritch horror almost destroyed the world. Peri knows that once he’s aware of one bit, the rest will follow; every disaster has an explanation, and there’s so much of it that she is certain he’s happier not being aware of.

     How can she pretend everything is okay once he knows it isn’t?

     So she doesn’t talk about those things, because she’s all too aware just how badly it could affect him. All Peri has to do to know that is to look at how much it wore on her own Steven. In that sense she’s a lot more aware that Steven has a limit, and she doesn’t want Stets to hit that wall because of her.

     Ranadot keeps her distance because she knows that the moment she comes too close, he could see for himself all the little marks of where everything went wrong.
