AKA Lorrie has way too many feelings about the concept of a female Captain America.

I touched on this in the tags of that thing I reblogged if anyone noticed but if not it's here for the Steveblogging tag

AND I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT STELLA OKAY

BC UGH IF CAPTAIN AMERICA HAD BEEN A WOMAN IT WOULD BE SO FRICKING BEAUTIFUL UGH UGH UGH

Because I guarantee that no one would've anticipated getting a woman in that test chamber. And I assume that Erskine deliberated a lot before letting her in there 

but there was no one so determined, there was no one who could be more trusted with this ability, with this opportunity

Erskine said Steve was the clear choice, it's the same with Stella

and I'm pretty sure some jerk made extra clear what she would be "giving up" to get the serum/to fight/etc

and by that I mean her 'feminine physique' and going over to fight means she can't live the way 'a woman should' and all kinds of BS like that y'know what I mean that person was probably there

and maybe Peggy decked them *w* 

(don't you dare try to take away their WWII lesbian romance from me I will end you)

but anywho they put her in the chamber and everything and it's awful and she steps out and it's very different from Steve stepping out

Steve stepped out as the peak of human perfection aesthetically on top of everything else.

Stella came out with a very bulky body. I assume she was similar to a shorter She-Hulk with a relatively flat chest. (I hate to have to mention it but we all know that ladies in comics have historically been given large chests right? and that would not happen)

and so a lot of people in that room viewed her as something of a freak prolly

but she doesn't give one single frick bc she wants to help she wants to serve and fight and if this gets her that then she's good

and then the whole debacle happens with the dude and the serum and the running which is every bit as awesome with Stella as it was with Steve

and same or at least similar stuff follows her, gets her what she thinks is gonna be "her shot"

but they put her in a dress that's carefully tailored to 'flatter her shape' which means make her look like they think she should look as a public figure and make her strut around a stage to sell war bonds

and you know how I always talk about Steve regretting that more than anything?

It's twelve million times worse for Stella 

and that doubles when she gets to the 21st century and learns how things can be and how much BS she went through not even realizing that it was BS 

(sexist stuff y'know which is why she is such an angry feminist in the 21st century)

but she went through all this because she wanted to be a soldier she didn't want your 'women's corps' BS she didn't want your USO BS she wanted to be a fricking soldier and they put her in the USO

and the worst thing is that she's gotten this far and her other choice is a lab rat 

at least she's doing something this way

but she regrets it so much now and gets mad like 'I didn't have to put up with that I wish I hadn't put up with that'

and there is never so much as a second of her life where she regrets getting that serum and "giving up" what they said she would.

But if there's one thing society has consistently taught women from the day they're old enough to consume media, it's how to be self-conscious and hate their bodies constantly. 

So Stella has self conscious moments that almost no one gets to see

moments in a clothes store's dressing room where she wants to buy the sundress but her shoulders are wide and broad and her biceps are, as WAY too many guys have pointed out to her in her time, 'bigger than theirs' 

and lord now that I think about it, Stella needs to stay 500 miles away from anything on the internet related to her bc 

'well yeah she's hot but who would want to bang a chick stronger than you'

'her biceps are bigger than mine what a turn off'

'it'd be one thing if her rack balanced it out' and other equally awful things bc YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I DO THAT THOSE PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE AND WOULD SAY THAT CRAP

so she puts down the sundress or wears a light sweater over it or something 

rips shoulder pads out of clothes she gets from the thrift store (bc it takes a lot to get her to shop at retail prices even in a context where she's in a relationship with Tony/Tasha Stark bc of the poor kid mentality y'know) 

and the first time she's intimate with someone she's very concerned about it and concerned about her body bc as much as she hates what the media has done and how much of an angry feminist she is that misogyny is still internalized and she's still working to get it out of there
