Summary: You go to a fair with the Walkers when your past catches up with you. Something snapped in you when Walker’s kids’ safeties were threatened.
TW: Fighting, Blood, Violence
___
God, this was so much fun. There were so many people just buzzing with excitement and you were too. You’ve always just felt at home at a fair. It reminded you of some of the best times in your life. You’d go to the fairs with your parents, watched as your siblings bled confidence and competition.
As the Texan sun beat down, it made the ambiance even better. IT was so bright it matched the atmosphere. The fair was lined with food stalls, children running down teh walkways witha prize or a balloon. It warmed your heart. Cordell walked with you as you looked around at all the games and activities, as Stella and August ran off they lived their lives. You were dying to find something you or even Cordell could win at. You and Cordell watched others attempt to win the rigged games(all fair games are rigged, an inevitable truth), you just smiled. You knew most people wouldn’t be able to win unless they were truly skilled.
You also caught Stella having fun with her current boy of the month while Auggie tried to impress his girl of the week. It was cute, they would try to make it work but fate would intervene. Eventually you and Cordell would find yourselves in the midst of the crowds, continuing finding a place where you belong. It was settled, just walking around discussing the amount of people there was astounding; On such a hot day you didn’t think so many people would be out but hey, they were probably used to it.
Your eyes searched for August and his girl. You tried to play it cool and let it go. You shouldn’t be so worried about Cordell’s son, he wasn’t even you(though it felt like it sometimes). It wasn’t until you caught a glance at who August was now speaking, it was a girl wearing a black leather jacket, you thought was something you had seen before. As you watched their exchange, you noticed an older woman marched her way over to the two teens. The posture the woman was presenting was something that was meant to be intimidating and it worked. You started to get nervous, squeezing Cordell’s hand. You could’ve sworn that if you squeezed it any harder his hand would break.
You stilled in your perouse of the environment to finally realize where you recognized her from. You stopped in your tracks, hand in hand with Cordell when it called him to a stop.
“What is it?” He asked as he caught your eye staring at the woman confronting August, “Well that doesn’t look good, maybe I should go handle it.”
You shook your head, “No, in fact I will.”
You let go of his hand as you marched your way toward the confrontation ready to happen. Your hands clenched into fists as you made your way over. You knew it could do one of two ways, you stepped in and it stopped OR it would escalate too much.
It turned out to be the latter.
The moment you ended up in the man’s peripheral vision, she recognized you too. Her stern look turned into an amused smirk. It felt like she held something against you. You had dealt with enough of her shit to leave the people you believed took you in, cared for you, fucked you over enough times..
By the time you ended up at the scene of the to-be fiasco, you were putting yourself in between August and the others. You weren’t about to let anything happen to him, you were determined to handle the situation.
“Daze, what are you doing here? Is there something that I can help you with?”
Terri sneered your name, “Well I’ll be damned, I didn’t know you were Austin.”
“Yeah, I am, what’s it to you? Here just to stir up trouble?” You snapped back, sent daggers her way in the way you glared at her.
She gestured to the young lady beside her, “I’m sure you remember my daughter, hell you practically helped me raise her. Cameron, say hello.”
Her eyes kept bouncing between her mother, you and the ground, “Hi.. uh long time no see.”
Your protective stance didn’t shift but you threw a small smile her way, “Hey hun, you grew up since that last time I saw you.”
“Wait you know these people,” August finally cut in. “H-How do you know them, are they family or friends?”
“Oh, well we were practically her family. Took her in, clothed her, loved her like one of our one,” Terri cut in with a devious smirk on her face and venom dripping from her words, “You didn’t talk about us at all? Sounds like something you’d do after what happened.”
“Terri, why don’t you shut the fuck up for once. August, go find your dad and hang back for a bit while we have a little chat,” You were trying to get him out of the way before something happened that you would rather not have him witness; the kid has been through a lot already and you didn’t want to add to his trauma.
What you didn’t see was Cordell already making his way to the scene, Stella in tow right behind him. He was ready to have your back not matter what happened, and to step in before it got out of control.
“You gonna shut me up,” Terri taunted, “You’ve never been the type for confrontation. Always were a meek little thing. Now, August, why don’t you stay right here, and listen to what I need to tell you and her.”
She placed her hand on her hip and turned to the sky as if she was feeling nostalgic about the memories she was going to bring to light, “Did you know that when she was 16 she ran away? Or about the time when she had just turned 19 and-”
You immediately knew what she was going to say, without saying a word your fist collided with her face, “Shut. The. Hell. Up. August, go find your dad, now.”
She just looked at you with a victorious look, “Wow, you finally grew some balls. Instead of being pushed around like a goddamn-”
You threw another hit as August finally left his spot behind you, but she dodged this one. She landed a hit to your nose, tears started to well up as blood dripped from your nose. You wiped the blood out from under your nose, looked at the blood and just smiled.
A crowd started to form a circle around the two of you and the mess you caused. You lunged at her, taking her to the ground. She started pulling at your hair while she was under you. Terri started trying to bite you- Yes bite you. She eventually turned you over and started landing as many hits as she could. Her daughter started to back away, finding refuge in someone else who was part of the motorcycle club. It looked like she hated every problem her mother got involved in.
Cordell was watching his whole exchange and he wanted to help you. Especially when Terri got on top of you. He was about to step in when you flipped her over your head and slammed her in the ground. You got yourself to your feet while Terri was still stunned from hitting the ground, that’s when you took your shot. You smashed your foot into her stomach. She groaned with pain.
You couldn’t stop there, you just had to kick the shit out of her. While she was still immobile, the bottom of your shoe managed to find her face.
When Cordell saw you taking things too far, that's when he went to pull6 you off of her. He appreciated you defending his son, but now with this many witnesses with the knowledge Cordell was a ranger. Something had to be done.
He had tried verbally stopping you, it was like you didn’t her him. So Cordell wrapped his arms around you waist, lifting you off your feet. Removing you from the woman who was now bleeding on the ground and being helped up by her fellow members.
Flailing in Walker’s hand trying to free yourself, he mumbled in your name in your ear, “Calm down before I actually arrest you. Breathe.”
Slowing your breaths, you tried to calm yourself but the following words seemingly fell out of your mouth, “You talk to him again, you’re not gonna be able to fucking walk Terri. He’s my kid, damn it.”
August and Stella stood frozen in their places, exchanged quick looks between you and each other. Sure, you and Cordell had been together for about a year and a half now. Yet it was never discussed beyond “you are my family” how you truly saw them. What the kids meant to you, for them it was still hard moving past the death of their mother and their father dating someone else. For them to hear, you felt as though August and Stella being ‘your kids’ was a shock to their systems
Terri looked at you with her vision blurred, a cut on her head bleeding profusely and a swollen eye, she tried to make another threat before a larger man shushed her and just pulled her away through the crowd.
Cordell took you away to the parking lot where Stella and August followed right behind you like shadows. You finally calmed down and you realized what you had said.
With wide eyes you tried to apologize, “Oh my god, I’m so sorry for what I said. I know you both are still going through enough-”
Cordell cleared his throat when he saw Stella trying to get the words out. HE knew you loved him and his kids, but he also knew that they had to express how they felt about it.
“Did you mean it?” Stella looked at you still with shock still heavy on her face and saying your name, “Did you mean what you said about August being ‘your kid’?”
August nodded in agreement, solidifying the importance of the question.
You looked at them and then to Cordell, “Yes. I’ve seen you as my kids the moment, August asked how to talk to the girl he liked, and even when you, Stella, started ranting to me about your dad and hoping I’d talk to him.”
“I care about you like you’re my own,” Your eyes started to water, “You guys are my family, I love you as much as I love Cordi- your dad. I’m not trying to replace your mom, but I do love you two so much.”
August and Stella swallowed you into a hug, practically squeezing the breath out of your lungs. Cordell started chuckling at the sight of true sheer shock on your face as they accepted you. Then it became clear to him that you were having trouble breathing.
“Alright guys, I think you should ease up a little and let her breathe.”
They release you but with quivering faces, Stella collected herself the best she could but August still was crying little when he wiped his tears away with his sleeve. You pouted your bottom lip, you just shook your head.
“How about we go back to your house, and we just relax for the rest of the night, that sound like a plan?” You suggested trying to get everyone relaxed and feel a little bit better, the kids nodded at you like Cordell gave you a small smile and led you three to the car.
Once you got back teh the Walkers’ place, you start popping popcorn and trying to get some movie snacks set up so you four could enjoy the rest of the day after what just transpired. August and Stella were both in their rooms, while Cordell joined you in the kitchen
He went over, placed a hand on your hip and kissed your temple, “Thank you for what you did today.”
“What? Fight a woman and probably scar your children?”
“No,” He started resting a hand on the small of your back, “For being honest and protecting Auggie and how you handled the kids. OH! Also it was pretty hot when you got into that fight. I didn’t know my girl could fight like that.”
Chuckling to yourself as the timer on the microwave went off, you wanted to say something but you couldn’t. You just shook your head as you pulled the popcorn out and poured it into a bowl.
“I didn’t mean to call Auggie my kid, but when I thought something bad might happen to him in retribution. But I do love him and Stells like my own. They’re important to me as much as you are to me,” Sighing your eyes drifted to the counter, “I don’t want to feel like I’m replacing her.”
Cordell looked at you with wide eyes and grabbed your shoulders to face him, “She can't ever be replaced but you’re here. You’re just trying to be there for them, and I guess me. I don’t think we’d be able to be here today without you trying to keep us sane and even broker peace between us when we get on each others’ nerves. I love you.”
He kissed you and you returned it before wrapping your arms around him. He pulled you close and kissed the top of your head.”
“I love you too, Walker,” You turned to him with big smile, “You thought I was hot while I beat the absolute crap out of a woman today?”
“Yeah, well it was cute to see you defend Auggie like that today.”
You giggled, “I guess I still got that spunk”
“Yeah you do,” He said, pulling you into a deeper and longer kiss.

Ahhh I wish every episode of Walker starter like this.. with Cordell shirtless on bed, looking like a delicious breakfast in bed 👁️🫦👁️
what tattoo does Jared have on his left biceps? No, not the star..
Is that harness comfortable?? Doesn't look like it has a lot of room for what Jared's packing
Dan Miller is a loser
Gale Davidson is a bitch
I am not Geri's biggest fan but Cordell looks so happy with her.. ughh!
i didn't like the way Bonham put Auggie's mistake on Cordell. That was kicking by below the belt
Ok why is Cordi looking extra gorgeous in this episode? Is it the post sex glow?????? I think it is 👁️🫦👁️
i love how often Jared wears black in this show!
Ummm.. anyone else thinks Walkers are wrong here with the property claim? I mean I'm not an expert.. just curious
God the secrets this family has.. especially Bonham and Abby. But I kinda like it.. goes to show people are not perfect and can flip 180 when the time comes
So is Geri meant to be younger than Cordell? Assuming Denise and Cordell are same age.. or closer and Geri is born after Denise.. how younger does it make her?
