after weeks of attempting to avoid being alone with her, alec and izzy stepped out mid-gathering leaving them in such circumstance. jace opted for silence, looking around for the sibling duo, but clary was seemingly not having it. they'd had their fair share of set backs, and had stalled at yet another one, this one lasting a little more than he'd like it to. jace was just about halfway through figuring out who, exactly what, he was after the fiasco of them potentially being siblings, her relationship with simon, clary subsequently finding out he'd been with maya and clary's nearly impossible wish to see the world.

having spoken to alec about potentially staying away from the institute for a while and taking izzy's advice on trying to sort things out with clary as she possibly already knew of his soon to come step back from the institute, jace figures this is the only opportunity he might have to do so - especially after what she'd just said. "maybe you shouldn't want me." though he says such, his actions state the exact opposite as he closes the space between them at last.

"Thank you for sticking up for me. It seems like alcohol brings out the worst of people. Would you let me buy you a drink?"

It was still new, hearing Erik referred to as his husband- but it made Charles smile every time, playing with the band around his finger.

It was starting to get late as Lucan was being shuttled from one safehouse to another due to a new arrival. According to the information he’d been given, she’d used her abilities out in the open to save a child, and they’d taken her in to protect her. She’d been looked over by whatever medical personnel this particular safehouse had (it could be anything from a vet to a pediatric nurse to an ENT), and while she’d sustained debris wounds from whatever she’d done to protect the child, she still wasn’t waking up. And they were worried that there was more to it - a bad concussion, or internal bleeding, or something else they might’ve missed. Which was where he came in. He entered the safehouse and made a beeline for the raggedy couch she was currently laid on, dropping his bag at his feet before he knelt down beside her. Then he took her hand, concentrated, and the connection between them was formed. And slowly but surely her wounds started to transfer to him, and... He could feel it now. He knew what was wrong, he’d healed other mutants from it plenty of times in the past: power overload. She’d used up too much energy at once, and her body was fighting to recover from it. Now... Now, it was his. Which was why, when he was finished, he slid back away from her, severing the connection and using the wall to stay upright.

Clary had been awed by the festival decorations on first glance. She barely saw the man next to her though. Color tinged her cheeks in slight embarassment. The redhead had never been to a town that loved the fall solistice so much. Her hands fisted in the green of her skirts nervously as she pulled her jade eyes from the decorations.”Forgive me, sir, my name is Clary Fray, and you are? I enjoy a good jack o’latern, but there the kind of things you can put outside your home. I have never seen so many beautiful things all in one place before.”

given recent events and unfortunate circumstances, jace never really thought he’d hear clary pronounce those exact words, but there they were. she was standing right in front of him, saying the exact words and although he thought of a lot of outcomes for this particular moment, none of them seemed suitable now that he was staring her - and it - in the eye. “clary…” he started off, his hand reaching across to hold hers even so tightly, it was her. this time, he could see it, it was her - that glint in her eyes he adored beyond explanation was very much present. all it took them was a single glance, a single blink of an eye - they were just that perfect, that close. no words were needed. “… you know.”

Clary knew grabbing a random stranger wasn’t the best choice but she was doing her best to lose her captor and get home safe. And this man was cute. Rode motorcycles like her Jace. She was in for something beyond him smacking his fists on her now. Siblings or not.
