C&EI #3, the "Danville Flyer," heads south at Steger, IL on 7/10/1967. The train is crossing 35th Street passing the loading platforms that served the Chicago Heights/Steger station (just out of the picture to the right and behind me) that by this time had become a flagstop. Note the boxcar spotted at the lumber company to the right. The house to the left still stands in 2022 although resided with white aluminum siding. The track nearest to me was a local running track from 26th Street Yard to the Route 1 overpass that has been torn up. The cars were built by Budd for the still born C&O train the Chessie; the middle coach was converted to tavern lounge 606 Harvest Inn. Photo by John Eagan
