MLP:

Ed is based off a spotted Clydesdale, he covers up the white spots with kohl when doing raids.

Ed either doesn't have a cutiemark or its so scarred no one can tell what it is and he cant be bothered to remember.

Ed is an earth pony, I toyed with the idea of making him a pegasus if only to make it easier for him to sword fight, but I figured him being a fearsome pirate despite not having magic or wings to help him would add to his mysticism

that being said, Ed will wear wing and horn prosthetics for fuckeries and general raids just to throw people off of what he really is. only Ed's crews know he is definitively an earth pony.

Ed's title is Blackhoof instead of Blackbeard, despite the fact that he still has a black beard lol.

I based Stede more off a show pony, very light coat that he works to keep as clean as possible to show his wealth (at least for most of the first season)

despite being a showpony he's not a very good one, he's not as slender as most are and can be rough if he's not paying attention.

Stede is a unicorn, he doesn't have terribly powerful magic but knows a lot of spells revolving around things like sewing and clothes, decorating, adding a sense of style to things.

I kinda like the idea of Stedes name being slightly changed to steed instead just because of the obvious pun

I like to think his title would be the Gentlecolt Pirate but it doesn't roll off the tongue as easy, but I cant think of anything better right now.
