just a sweet and lazy morning after valentine's day.
steve spent all night long making sure his boyfriend knew how much he appreciated him celebrating valentine's with him even though he doesn't like the holiday.
but eddie knows is steve's favorite and he'll do anything for his king.
another piece for the Steddie Valentine's Day Exchange 💝
Steddie Valentine's Day Exchange - Eddie making Steve's blind date better - For Fishie - 12.02.2024
It was a blast to participate to the Steddie Valentine's Day Exchange and to draw something for @whataboutthefish 🥰❤️
I was immediately hit by the image of Steve and Eddie on a date sharing a milkshake. And for context it would be Steve being stood up while on a blind date and Eddie finding him and saving the day, making sure Steve has a good time~
Eddie : "So are you glad I ruined your blind date, big boy~?"
Steve *smiling* : "I am, but don't drink all the milkshake, you fiend~"

Little teaser under the cut:
Eddie stopped and lent the guitar to Steve. “Perfect”, he said, the voice a little moved.
Steve was moved too, for the earlier broken moment and for the music and the lyric he just heard. The song continued in the background.
“It’s… that song…” he whispered, taking the guitar, in a low voice, raising his eyes on Eddie.
Eddie smiled and nodded, with a new, bright light on his face, and suddenly Steve felt a need to cry, there and in that moment.
“It’s… different…” he said, thinking of the songs Eddie usually blasted. The song ended and another one started, just as intense as the other.
Eddie nodded again. “Do you know it?”
Steve cocked his head, and Eddie lent him a cassette cover, with a hand writing: Cat Stevens - Tea for the till/ and the last piece ripped.
Steve’s heart stopped beating. He looked at Eddie holding his breath, feeling his face cold and hot at the same time. He tried to decide if he could recognize that seventh grade with a buzz cut under Eddie’s dark and luscious hair.
The music stopped.
“It’s my mom’s,” he smiled, mistaking Steve’s shock for surprise about folk music. “He loved Cat Stevens. It’s… the last tape she gave to me”.
“It’s… different…” was the only thing Steve was able to repeat, still shocked.
“Yeah, but one can like different kinds of music, don’t you think?”
Steve felt his mouth dry, his brain empty, and just stared at the broken paper.
“Yeah, it’s broken, it is Tea for the Tillerman. It was her favorite, but mine is Teaser and the Firecat,” Eddie kept talking, following the stare of Steve, still misunderstanding. Steve could just nod.
“Well, do you want to eat? Old man’s meatloaf is really good”.
Eddie put the guitar in the case and jumped on his feet. Steve looked at the time.
“I… I have to go, I… I have a shift in a moment”.
Eddie shrugged. “Oh, ok. So you don’t want the class today?”
Steve cleared his throat, following him out of the room. Walking in the kitchen helped him to regain a little spirit.
“Don’t you just give me one? Guitar maintenance and folk music,” he smiled, and Eddie smiled too, again bright and happy.
“Of course, and you have to repay the material too!”
“Oh!” Steve took his wallet from his pocket.
“Easy, don’t worry,” he lightly touched his arm. “Next time, ok?”
Steve nodded and went out to his car. He drove back to the road, then had to stop at the side to calm down and catch his breath.
It wasn't true he had to enter his shift right now, he had time until three; he went to the record shop and searched for Cat Stevens’s records; he discovered that now he was named Yusuf Islam, and he found Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat. He put both on the Family video during all the afternoon, and barely paid attention to the customers that wanted to rent video for the night. Robin was puzzled and confused watching him repeatedly freezing and listening to The Wind every time it played from the speakers.
The instant he reached home, he went into his room and searched for the old tin box he had in sixth grade, and along with the other trinkets he collected, he took the tiny piece of paper and looked sharply at it. That morning he just had two revelations, both of them frightful and incredibles. Eddie Munson was that strange, silent new kid that came at the school the spring of his sixth grade and he saw him being bullied several times without doing anything, and now he had a fat, big crush on him. He had been thinking lately, thanks to Robin, but he never expressed his thoughts and he surely never thought of Eddie Munson like that. He had a shower, a cold shower, the dinner and then hit the sack playing again Teaser and the Firecat until sleep.

Summary:
“Move over,”
Eddie was winded by a knee to the chest.
“Sorry,” came the mumbled apology. “Move,”
“No!” Eddie coughed, pulling out his earplugs. “Get the fuck out of here,”
“Huh?” was the reply. “I was told I could crash here and now you’re telling me I can’t?”
Eddie fended off another jeaned leg as it tried to swing onto the mattress.
“I’m not saying no,” he said, having learned long enough ago that it was easier to just let them stay here instead of arguing about it. He had work in a few hours; he needed to get back to sleep. “Go over to that side,”
“Why does it matter, just let me in,”
“Dude this is my side,” said Eddie. “Go the fuck over there,”
Five times Steve spends a Saturday night with Eddie while he's drunk, and one time he's completely sober
