I actually gave it a lot of thought, and then a little more, again, because I wanted to make sure I'm staying unbiased lol - because we know each other's fave too well. And then Portishead's Glory box started playing and I realized - it's still definitely him!😂

Joel has been through so much and seen so much that he doesn't need all those standard games of "to be given a reason", to be catered to and coddled. He simply wants to be with you and loves and accepts all of you, a drop of tar in honey barrel and all. Every nice moment together would be cherished, and I bet this man knows everything about trust and acceptance too. Also have you seen those arms?

I'd follow him anywhere he asked me to, even if it meant we needed to stop and siphon gas every eight minutes for the rest of our lives.

haha, thank you for thinking so thoroughly about this. He deserves very careful consideration, and it seems like you've given it.

I think that you're right when it comes to this Joel and being very straightforward about the way he wants to be treated and will treat someone else - it's not always going to be easy, and I'm sure I'd (and he would, too) get frustrated and upset at times, but the end result would be so damn worth it.

I think that in Joel's world, those "special" moments would be so few and far between that there'd be no choice but to cherish them, so I'd make sure that was the case, and he wasn't just zooming right past them to get from point A to point B, you know? Earning his trust and having him accept someone (me.) for who they are would be so rewarding.

I wanted to write a caption but he's more expressive than 100500 words I can come up with

If that man ever looked at me like that - just with soft adoration and understanding and a little bit of amusement in his eyes? It’d be over.

Omg yes please.

IMO even Joel would feel safe enough in the middle of a lake to relax. Sure, it’d be easy enough for someone to use a hunting rifle with a scope or other long range weapon to SEE you if you were out in the open, but that would mean that there needed to be someone even LOOKING for you.

And for the most part? There isn’t anyone. Ever. And there also aren’t infected in the middle of a lake. Which means that you and Joel can let your guard down. You can focus on each other. You can talk without worrying about someone (or something) interrupting you.

You can bring and enjoy a picnic lunch. He could play his guitar for you. You could bring some fishing poles. You can watch the sun rise or set over the water and the mountains in the distance, the haze burning off in the morning as the sun comes up and the heat of the day builds. You could sunbathe or just lay back and stare at the sky or the stars. You can cuddle up with each other under a blanket…

You're far too kind. I write this story for people like you that love and adore and want more Joel as he should be and as we know him from the game ... and to know that it's coming across as I mean it to is such a relief. I always get super giddy when I post a new chapter because I anxiously await your response to whatever it is I write - and the newest one is no exception, but you already know so much about it ... because you helped me come up with the idea and more than a few of the visuals.
