Prism permanently blinds you... through Teletext!
This was actually a study on how the image squashes and stretches between the working resolution of 40*24 and th effective resolution of 80*92. I screenshot a scene from Dispatch, cropped the screensho to a size that is proportional to th effective resolution of Teletext, shrunk the image to the working resolution of Teletext, then have that be a reference (that is, not doing a pixelover).
Thankfully, Prism's design mainly uses colours that match nicely to the 3-bit palette that Level 1 and Level 1.5 of Teletext use, but her skin was outside that palette: I nitially tried to do that yellow pattern on red tiles I did in my previous foray onto Teletext-style art, bu that only looked worse, hence I just made her skin red and hope that others would not accuse me of being racist.
Of course, such shrinking means that even big details get lost, especially since Prism's primarily black outfit blended wi the black background. I believe that I did an acceptable approximation, though I also had to modify the actual pixel art because a literal copying of the reference left me with spindly shapes. Even then, some details could be solved with doing bow-drawing characters, but I decided to focus on studying the squash and stretch this time.
The biggest obstacle was, a this poin, the flash. I noticed tha the flash was a sort of wide hexagon, though I had to work wi the flash a bit before the flash was appropriately symmetrical. I also noticed how the flash hid a hand that was purposefully foreshortened, which would have looked wonky in this low resolution and small palette.
I am actually surprised at how the shrunk resolution managed to essentially stretch to something rather closely resembling the original image, though I still needed to do a few fixes on the stretched image.
I plan on remaking this picture once I get mor experience working wi the Teletext format.
