Heâd met the kid by accident, he was pretending to be him, and he could have gotten away with it too if Steve hadnât been there. It was eerie how much of a spitting image Jack was of him. Steve joked that maybe he could be a stand in, considering the history books never talked about his height, neither did the Smithsonian. Whoâd have ever known? Though if you in Steveâs line of work, you develop certain habits when you have access to certain things. So he learned about Jack and the Statesman, not that they hadnât already been on SHIELDâs radar, but it was a very healthy âletâs not fuck with each otherâ sort of deal.
Though itâs how Steve ended up where he was now. Assisting the Statesman.
It had been a disaster. A god damn shit show. Everything went sideways so fast, that even he couldnât catch up with it. Jack had gotten hurt, a good number of agents had, but the kid was the worst. Heâd lost so much blood. Steve had stayed close, he didnât know why, but heâd felt this instinctual pull to stay close. Then theyâre talking about transfusions and blood types and theyâre worried they canât get what they need.
Iâm O negative...
Now Steve sat there, staring at a paper in his hand. He should feel violated. He knows he should. But the agent that had done this was scientist, and he knew very well that by nature they were absolutely curious. So he couldnât hold it against him. He doesnât seem phased by the fact that he looks like he got run over by a train. Hair messed up, covered in dirt, lip split. Steve is just focused on that paper in his hand.
a starter @statesmanrum didnât ask for because now I have fucking feels
