#starts dance

I have to say I was really disappointed with this album, and I was looking forward to it the most, it seemed like every time she released a new album the number of songs I liked increased whereas this album I only liked 2 song, just 2 and it wasn't even 'Come And Get It'. But these songs seem to have a different genre for each song that don't really go with Selena's style and seems like she's trying too hard to seem grown up and sexy. :/

1) Birthday:Firstly that weird groan noise she makes a few times after the 19 seconds point is creepy. The part where she goes 'TONIGHT'S MY BIRTHDAY' and 'EVERY NIGHT'S MY BIRTHDAY' seems amazingly childish and honestly  sounds like something a new generation 'Disney Channel' artist would release (ironically). I also don't understand the concept on 'Jazz it up', does she mean it literally or is that a slang for something else? Also at the 32 second mark where her vocals start to appear she sings a part where she says 'Falling in to you, falling in to me, SO YUMMY' I'm assuming this is a cheap take at a euphemism for having sex, not cool. And the rest of the song is basically repeating the whole of the beginning verses of the song, with repetitions of 'Jazz it up' 'SO YUMMY' and then 'Crashing in to you, Crashing in to me'. Sadly this song is really not worth listening, it's childish and too 'tying to be older' and not fun at all.

2) Slow Down - Slow Down is one of the only 2 song I like from this whole album, and honestly it's nothing special but it's better than some of the other songs. I love the guitar riff at the beginning. I love how the song starts off fast but then slows down significantly at the lyrics. my favorite has to be at the end of the chorus where the word song is broken down. But sadly Selena again tries to be sexy by saying things such as 'Breath me in, Breath me out' and 'You know I'm good with mouth to mouth resuscitation' which again sounds corny. I have to say I love it when you hear 'It's the Cataracs' it's different to other songs where the producer or the writer is mentioned at the beginning, for example Red One or Konvict. It is a good song to dance to and I love how she talks about dancing with a boy and spending time with him at the same time.

3) Stars Dance - I love the beginning instrumental riff at the beginning. This song is slow and doesn't have the signature Selena techno that the listeners are used to. And in this song she's talking about how she's the best for the guy she's singing to by saying 'No other girl can make you feel like I do' 'I'll be your muse' 'I can make the stars dance if you want me to'. Personally I find this song really desperate, she sounds like she's telling him all the special things she can do so he would accept her... kind of like a job interview. It doesn't really sound like a love song, but it sounds very patronizing. And honestly making 'stars dance' would appeal to little children not grown men.

4) Like A Champion - This song starts off amazing, with me falling in love with the whole first verse, but when I heard the chorus I wanted to cry, it was so BAD, with the whole ' RUM PA PA PUM' it was really bad. Again when the song continues with the rest of the verses it was a good song, but then again comes the chorus. The interesting part of the song was at the 1:58 mark where the melody slightly changes and even though she says 'WALK LIKE A CHAMPION' in between the few times, that part is actually really good! I have a weakness of Reggae songs and this song has a tonne of that which I wasn't expecting from this song but I LOVE it! If you ignore the chorus, which is kind of hard to do, this song is great!

5) Come And Get It - The title song! To be honest I am never impressed with the track she releases first for her album, I hated Round and Round and I hated Falling Down, this song wasn't too bad but I didn't like it. It was a really interesting mix she did with the big bass lines and the Asian melodies in between. I hate the lyrics for this video and for a person who doesn't care about lyrics even I noticed the bad writing. The bit I did like the chorus the 'Na na na' part and the part where 'ready' was broken down, and sadly that's the only part of the song I liked. Lastly I think the Indian voice at the background was a nice touch but they auto tuned it to repeat, that was a bit weird. At the 3:37 mark she starts singing slower and make sound like a ballad, was a really bad part in the song, I hated it because it sounded like it had no proper melody.

6) Forget Forever - The song starts nice and slow with a sweet melody with a nice guitar riff, but at the 30 seconds mark the melody becomes faster and an additional bit is added and Selena starts singing in a higher pitch, and I personally prefer when she sings in a lower pitch because it makes her voice sound better. And I think at this point is where the song starts going down hill. And more childish lyrics added with 'Our love was made to rule the world' Sounds like what a 12 year old  would say to her celebrity crush. Then at the 1:02 mark it goes techno and the song goes from bad to worse, and this is also the place where she starts screaming out 'Forget Forever'

7) Didn't like this song from the get go. But I still listened to it thinking it would get better, and it did, only slightly. At the 30 second mark where she goes ' baby when the night starts slippin'' it sounded OK and had a nicer melody than how the song started out, but then at the 48 seconds mark it starts going bad again because her vocals don't match the melody being played in the background making it sound like a weird 'mesh'. But it got worse at the 1:00 mark when the chorus started and it all just got even worse, she sounds like she's trying to create a clubland record but it went horribly wring because you can't really dance to the song except for the chorus. And to finish the last bit of of misery was the 2:28 mark where she starts going 'oh hey oh hey' in a really weird way without a nice melody to it, and she just sounded bored while singing it. Bad ending.

8) B.E.A.T - The beginning of the song was atrocious, she sounds like she's trying to copy Britney Spears, the 'Beat in my face' repetition was really bad and 'beat in your face' just sounds extremely uncomfortable. Another thing what has her being 'ashamed' with the world being 'big' and 'bad', that doesn't make sense. At the 51 seconds mark the chorus, it didn't sound too bad because now it had a proper melody but then, she starts her weird slow rapping again. And the rest of the song is just the repetition of the beginning rap. And the at them when she starts singing again in between her lyrics there would 'Ayo ayo' which sounded extremely awkward. At the 2:21 mark the song became unbearable, Selena tries a little hip hop and it was HORRIBLE, she should never do it again because it was painful to listen to and it was corny, the random repetition of the word 'beat' and then the ' I can't get enough' sounded bad and desperate. Not a good song at all.

9) Write Your Name - I really like the 'eh eh' part at the beginning and her voice sounds so good at this pitch. Then at the 42 second mark is where it all went bad, Again. There isn't much to say about this song because it just continues in the same melody. Up until it goes UGLY at the 2:01 mark where she starts her awkward rapping again, it sounds so bad, and then it goes back to the chorus.

10) Undercover: It starts with a simple beat and it was OK up until at the 23 seconds mark she says 'You're a sexy machine, you're a Hollywood dream' and I don't think lyrics can get any worse considering the lyrics and the meaning of the song was supposed to be serious. Then at the 37 seconds mark she does a few high notes and they sound very strained and not nice to listen to. Then we have a bass type chorus with an old school melody for the chorus.Then the tempo slows down at the 2:38 mark where she changes the melody completely and then that awkwardness is finished off with the repetition of the line 'You don't need no other lover' which is a cheesy line in itself.
