“Well, usually when I get spotted it’s ‘Call the police!’ or ‘AAAH!’ followed by screams of horror as they run in the opposite direction as fast as they can.” Viveka’s reply was remarkably light-hearted in spite of its subject matter. Unclasping her hands, she lifted one of the dark appendages to tuck a glittery lock of pastel pink hair behind her decorated ear.
“Aleera, that’s a lovely name. What are you doing out here this late at night? Streets are dangerous for a pretty girl like you.” True it was dark and the sidewalks were sparsely populated, but Viveka liked it that way. She was able to venture out and play leapfrog with the street lights. She’d make friends with the homeless people and listen to their stories, it distracted her from the loneliess she was always running from.
