she’d had a long day. and when she eventually got home the apartment was empty. thank god. it was going to be so nice to just have the place for herself for a while. now, she didn’t always enjoy being alone, but who didn’t need some time for themselves? finally, she could write without being interrupted every other minute. she plugged in her earplugs and listened to her favorite playlist. she was writing her essay while chatting with her friend from class in another window, when suddenly a hand wrapped around her throat from behind. her heart stopped for a second and she quickly pulled out her earplugs. 

audrey had been looking forward to this date for days, and she’d spent almost two hours getting ready for it. they were chatting and having a good time, the food had been great and their waitress had just taken their order for dessert. everything was going smoothly until he took a short trip to the bathroom -- or maybe he went to get their waitress phone number?? while he was gone, he got a text message on his phone from one of his friends asking if he’d gotten a taste of her yet. audrey sat back in her seat, disappointment written all over her face. when he returned she didn’t wait to confront him. “you don’t have to pretend to like me anymore. i know this is a bet. you can tell your friends whatever you want, i don’t care,” she lied.
