It feels so weird being a fan of them tbh....
Like a majority of the fandom doesn't like them yet i do. It feels weird how i don't like Sirius because he feels like a character just made just to keep the fandom interesting and to be a milestone brawler. Everyone thinks that's the sushi shop trio except me....like??
I like the generational trauma storyline they have. Kaze being a weapon for so long and wanting to be free and live her own life. And when she finally does her & her family constantly have to go through hell constantly fighting off robots and ppl who want to harm them, just a terrible reminder of the past. Not only that but it definitely affects how they raise their child too. I enjoy the trios dynamic, it shows they're flawed af with they way they parent Nori and are very overprotective of him(Kaze is) but they still care about his emotional well being and not comedically bad like a lot of the parents in the games are (like Juju, Pam, Eve, and Stu were the only competent parents before nori was released(Ruffs i think to an extent too but i feel like a LOT of people don't see Squeak as a baby blob for some reason)...and Stu's the only good male parent figure in this game, most of the dads suck or they're unconfirmed/we don't really know their relationship with their child.)
I genuinely find them interesting, i find their story while not much very compelling and they honestly outline more that I want Brawl Stars to be more about Character Driven stories than this "ohhhhh evil park and human experiments" they're going for(kinda like how cookie run has different story arc for different groups of characters)?
I won't even lie either, my least favorite aspect about them in the marketing aspect.
1) Supercell just sucking in general with cultural representation. Kenji's voicelines suck(him sounding like the most generic cartoon samurai)and Kaze is just not a good genshin representation it's been explained time again (i know it doesn't have to do with the the cultural aspect, but i genuinely hate her ninja design more than her genshin one...it's one of the most half baked designs i seen in the game 😭 and it feels like they didn't even TRY like you design ninja skins that cover up a brawler's face but you can't make the one character that's supposed to have her ninja identity a secret look any different from her know one). Nori the only based design i like, i don't really know how culturally appropriate he is but i find him actually cleverly designed outside of that. The fish pancho is very cute and i love how his fish rod has a lil toy fish on it.
2) PLEASE MAKE AN OLDER WOMAN SUPERCELL. Even if i like Kaze, i do agree she should look sm older than she currently does, they don't even put her in makeup either, i feel like it would improve the design a LOT! I don't understand why Kaze and Wendy can't look a bit older(Wendy yeah she's canonically 30 but it doesn't make sense for her to be that young to me tbh.)
3) Kaze feels definitely rush to me when it comes to gameplay and such. It feels like her design falls under that and then also her in game...like they fumbled her release for hard...her being the first brawler in the HIGHEST rarity in the game and they didn't even think of a way to f2p players to unlock her until after with the update after that??? It's HELL for a free to play player even to unlock a legendary brawler, now they have to unlock another one like....the best thing to come out of Kaze release is them later reworking early access for everyone....
Like the sushi trio too is definitely a trio that focuses more on gameplay too, which I don't mind, they're all legendary +, i just wish that wasn't the only thing they cared about with them...i wish they actually cared enough to focus on designing their actual designs and such....
Because i do find them incredibly interesting character wise and trio dynamic wise. Frankly too i think they're overhated too...
The cultural aspect i think it's a big problem with the trio and i think that SHOULD be addressed, but i'm sorry i don't understand how people just find them "angst slop" or "boring" when i actually feel very invested in their trio...(also i think a lot of the responses to Kaze in particular feels INCREDIBLY sexist, slut shaming her and saying she deserved to be a dead wife isn't the way to go ppl)...
Honestly in short, you can criticize a character for their problematic aspects but i think a lot of the hate the trio gets is too far sometimes because the interesting ideas the trio has are there with the character/trio driven stories and actually show how the trauma affected the family. It just sucks that they were just made to be marketable but i genuinely don't hate them for it like everyone else.....
I also just find them very adorable
I'm not very good at the rant thing but I just needed to get it off my chest because I really do care for this trio (they're like my 2nd/3rd favorite trio in the entire game). I don't want to come off as too angry tho(I'm trying to be less negative regardless), i just wanted to explain why i LOVE the trio personally.
