Do you think Beth is worried for Courtney?
I think she is worried for her but more so I think she is growing increasingly frustrated. I think Barbara and Pat are going to fill in the role as being more “worried” since they are Courtney’s parents. Beth’s dynamic is slightly different. She knows Courtney “rushes in”. For one thing, the advice that Sylvester gave Beth about her family can also apply to her friends, and Courtney is putting herself in a dangerous spot. But I also think Beth having had given Courtney the chance to come clean will feel hurt to find out Courtney withheld truth from her. I think Courtney takes Beth for granted a bit because she never had to work for that friendship, it was always freely given. Beth clearly prefers Courtney’s leadership style. I gather she feels more like her equal than being bossed around by an older guy she doesn’t know that well. Courtney has always included Beth post 1x06 and already Sylvester seems to have conflicted feelings with her. He didn’t bring Beth to join them with the tunnels and he was agitated when she had to answer the goggles because her parents were ringing. So Beth pleading Courtney to please refocus while Courtney ignores her will very likely sour her worry to actual disdain, especially if they had started off the season as being on the same page. Trying to manage her parents + temperamental Rick, Yolanda AND Sylvester is a lot. She’s right, she does need Courtney to have her back but she’s flaking.
