I’d been roughly a week since the battle against Ultron and Sterling hadn’t seen Stark since finding him injured on the ground. It wasn’t exactly the ideal time to meet him and at that point it was almost a detriment to his own character to be counted amongst SHIELD despite being there to help. Stark was never one for authority, SHIELD least of all, but Sterling had done his best to help.
He hadn’t done enough, he felt.
So despite his embarrassment over their initial meeting and how absolutely useless he had been, when the time came for someone to run the delivery of Stark’s suit back to him he had volunteered before thinking. Saying they had a rapport, saying he wanted to see it through after having found him there, anything he could to be given the assignment. It had worked. Sterling only slightly regretted it.
So Sterling stood now just through the door of Stark’s home, guiding two agents as they loaded the box containing the mangled Iron Man suit into the foyer since the AI had let them in. Sterling looked up and around at the home as he waited for their host to greet them.
