“darlingest  love  of  my  life,”  he  croons  from  the  bed,  though  arguably  it's  more  a  half-whine,  desperate  and  plagued  by  irritation  at  his  own  immobility.  “i  mean  not  rush  you,  obvi,  but  i  really  would  rather  starve  with  you  than  wait  for  dinner  a  minute  longer.”  no  sprain  of  sorts  could  hamper  his  dramatics;  grateful  as  he  is  to  have  his  girlfriend  looking  after  her,  shion's  nearly  fully  convinced  her  company  is  the  only  antidote  he  requires.  the  sight  of  her  at  the  door  of  his  bedroom  broadens  his  grin;  he  moves,  though  with  no  little  difficulty,  to  lean  up  against  his  headboard,  patting  the  space  beside  him.  “indulge  the  sick  and  dying  man  ?”

“back  again  so  soon  ?”  if  there's  extra  delight  crawling  into  her  words  and  settling  in  her  gut,  she's  doing  a  rather  pointed  job  at  ignoring  it;  can  claim  she's  just  happy  to  be  coming  face  to  face  with  familiar  company  for  what  might  be  the  fifth  (  definitely  the  fifth  —  she  just  doesn't  want  to  be  caught  counting  )  time  this  week.  she  slides  his  coffee  towards  him,  made  just  the  way  she  knows  he  likes,  before  he  can  even  glance  at  the  menu  —  it  earns  her  an  eye  roll  from  stevie  that  she  can  feel  at  the  back  of  her  head,  but  layla's  just  as  good  at  ignoring  that,  too,  sliding  into  the  seat  across  from  her  new  friend  and  trying  not  to  care  too  much  about  the  way  their  knees  bump  under  the  table.  “i'm,  like,  definitely  not  complaining  to  have  you  around  so  often,  but  let  our  chef  catch  ya  here  one  too  many  times  and  he's  gonna  end  up  making  you  cook  your  food  yourself."
