I got a LONG RECEIPT FOR A FREE DRINK AT STARBUCKS??

After my shift yesterday, I stayed at the sleeping quarters at work to take a nap (of course!) while waiting for church. The service starts at 9:30 am and my shift ends at 6 am. It's too early and kinda sleepy, so I took the chance.

I slept for an hour and a half, I think? After I woke up, I had to take my Carsitol for my PCOS, then 30 minutes after I needed to eat my breakfast as what was advised by the doctor.

During my 30-minute wait time, I did my post-nap rituals. After that, I'm thinking of going somewhere to grab some vegetable salad, but starbucks is just a few walks away from my work. I noticed they opened earlier than the mall. I didn't know.

I looked inside, and I thought I saw vegetable salad displayed. When I went inside, I realized those were pastas. Still decided to try some.

I ordered Fusilli Baked Salmon and just a tall pink drink with less sugar.

I'm not a Starbucks girly, and there'nothing wrong with being a Starbucks lover. I'm just not into sweets now, and also, my budget says she can't. (Lol) Here in the Philippines, Starbucks is not budget friendly.

It's been a long while since I went to Starbucks. It was really a long time that I couldn't even remember if that was 2 or 3 years ago. (Haha! Hey, nothing wrong with that! My budget just has been busy prioritizing other things. Why am I even explaining?!)

Anyways, the barista who assisted me pulled me to the side and showed me a long receipt. Yes! A long receipt for 2 items ordered. He explained how it works. He told me it is unusual to get this kind of receipt. I'm not sure if it's very rare, but I think for Starbucks members, you can earn points to get free drink?

He walked me through. Went to a link, then answered a survey about my experience. After that, I got a code, and he wrote it down on the receipt so that when I come visit again, I can present the receipt and get a free tall drink that I wanna try. No expiry. He explained that if I wanna upgrade, I just need to add 15php for grande and 30php for venti if I remember that right.

I think he also explained that you can get a free drink by answering a survey on that link first but not guaranteed you can get a code as well. So, for a not starbucks girly or a budget-centric girl like me, that's really great!

But you know what really makes it special for me? Yes, getting a Customer Voice Receipt for a free drink made my day, but there's deeper than that.

It is because I know it's not a coincidence. I also don't believe in coincidences. I believe everything — even the simplest thing you don't expect — happens for a reason.

The night before, during the start of my shift. My team manager told me I am getting upskilled for the department I honestly didn't want to be part of. It was also so sudden that I didn't even get to prepare my heart and mind for it. I didn't even get a chance to know why I would be transferred. My manager also didn't have an idea why, I think?

Another opportunity, but it also means I'm leaving my current team members and will be transferred to another team but a different department.

I can't help but tear up at my workstation. I've had good laughters shared with this team. Also, the leave request I filed for today, Sept. 29th was not approved because of this training, so it added to my frustration.

My manager gave me some time and told me to log back in when I feel better. I didn't want to also take too long, and then after 35 minutes, I think I logged in again.

Tried to take all the time I wanted to compose myself. Within that 30 mins, I also thought that God allowed it to happen, so I needed to submit.

I know God allowed me to be in this situation because I know He will sustain me. I also don't believe now to what people say, "God won't put you in a situation if He knows you cannot handle it."

It is encouraging to think that God knows I can, so He puts me in this situation. It feels empowering when I say it to myself. At the same time, it feels shallow if that makes sense.

I believe God is a God that qualifies the called.

I prefer to change my perspective to knowing that I can't, so I know I have to hold on to God's hands as He guides me. This is not underestimating myself, but to declare that God is bigger than this challenge. I can't without him. God wants me to be dependent on him. He's like saying, "Don't worry, I got you!"

So I believe it's better to say, "God won't put you in a situation if he's not gonna sustain you."

There's peace in my soul despite that my flesh feels deep sadness and frustration. I know that peace comes from Him.

So, there’s God. He shows himself even in the simplest way. I know that’s confirmation that God will be with me throughout this journey.
