So, the Jackson/Ethan thing. Obviously, I donāt give a pooh about canon in a general sense because I multiship & write dead characters alive etc. BUT the only way this ship makes sense to me is:
After the whole nogitsune thing & Aiden dying, Danny is forced to finally acknowledge that Beacon Hills shortens life spans of people he knows A LOT, and those who donāt die seem to get fucked over & fucked up (i.e. Jackson, Stiles, Lydia, and he knows this mess with Allison dying will get Scott AND Isaac). Danny likes being alive, however, and he Has Plans for his life, including actually making it to his 18th birthday.
Which means, he decides to take some time away from Beacon Hills to Figure Shit Out. Jackson has been pestering him to visit London, and this seems like the perfect time. Ethan tags along because heās dealing with grief over losing Aiden, trying to figure out how to be a me instead of an us, and still handling guilt heās got from the whole alpha pack thing. Danny cares about Ethan, thinks maybe it could have been love if the supernatural only existed in shows about hot sexy brothers hunting it down, but he canāt really seem to give Ethan what he needs.
Oddly enough, he notices how Jackson and Ethan DO seem to sort of give each other what they need. While in London, he watches & deals with some jealousy and someĀ āpolyamory is a thing...ā thoughts, but both Jackson and Ethan have a ton of baggage, and Danny just canāt be their porter. So he accepts that his whole breaking up/ājust friendsā speech to Ethan is the best idea for both of them, reassures Jackson that he still isnāt Dannyās type, and he starts looking at colleges for early admission while they go on their first date.
Despite what cheesy sitcoms say, three isnāt company, itās a crowd, especially when Jackson & Ethan become that coupleĀ and basically make him gag with their sappy happiness (and also become a little envious). In the end, he decides to accept an offer to start at Georgetown without having to ever return to the Hellmouth that is Beacon Hills.Ā
Itās just his luck that he manages one full year without supernatural nonsense in his life before he runs into a very familiar mole-dotted face while jogging around the national mall that summer.Ā
