The last episode of the The Real Ghostbusters aired on October 5, 1991. The series ran for 7 seasons (the last season only had 4 episodes) and 140 episodes. "The Real" in the title was to help avoid problems with Filmation who actually owned the title "Ghostbusters" (an issue the movie struggled with as well and even filmed some scenes with an alternate name for the group). Over the series, ABC and their consulting firm Q5 forced changes on the show, including major changes to the character Janine Melnitz. J Michael Straczynski quit over the interference. The show started with Lorenzo Music as Dr Peter Venkman, Maurice LeMarche as Dr Egon Spengler, Arseneo Hall as Winston Zeddemore, Frank Welker as Dr Raymond Stantz and Slimer, and Laura Summer as Janine Melnitz. By the last episode the cast was made up of Dave Coulier as Peter Venkman, LaMarche as Egon Spengler, Buster Jones as Winston Zeddemore, Welker as Dr Raymond Stantz and Slimer, and Kath Soucie as Janine Melnitz.
