art had been so good recently. kept his emotions in check, didn't make an rash decisions. he was focusing on you, wasn't letting anyone get in the way of your relationship. until, of course...
"artie!" your bloodshot eyes appear unannounced at his dorm, thank god he'd already gotten rid of the guy in his bathroom. his heart clenches at the sight of you, sniffling through your tears as your hands reach out for him immediately. art's already working out a new hiding spot at the sight of your tears, and he doesn't even know what happened yet.
his strong arms carry you into his room, cradling you in his lap, stroking through your hair as he waits for you to be ready to speak. he'd never rush you, art does everything at your pace. "my– my– she–" you mumble, choking out the words through sobs. "what is it, princess?" art coos, gently tilting up your chin to force your eyes onto his.
"y'know my friend lexi?" oh, fuck. he definitely knows lexi. lexi is currently in the trunk of his car, he was planning on discarding her body today, before you arrived. shit, shit, shit.
art nods softly, pushing down all feelings of panic that are threatening to boil over. he has to be here for you right now, not thinking about himself. "yeah, baby, i know lexi, she lives in your building, right?" of course he knows that, it's where he killed her. "mhm, yeah," you mumble, wiping your nose on your sleeve as you sniffle through more sobs.
"she's– she's missing," you whisper, as though saying it any louder would make it more real than it already was. your lip trembles as your doe eyes look to art for comfort. "oh, princess," he murmurs, pressing his lips gently to your forehead. christ, was this girl miss popular or something? art only killed her in the early hours of the morning. fuck, he's in deep shit. she's still in his fucking car and the whole campus is looking for her.
no, it's fine. a missing persons report can't be filed before she's been gone for twenty-four hours. art has time. the police will think she's just some college student who got too drunk and didn't come home. she'll turn up, they'll say, don't worry. yeah, she'll turn up. in a fuckin' ditch somewhere as soon as art's ready for her to be found.
and hey, look, art didn't have a choice, okay? he's not just some psycho that kills people for the fun of it. it's not fun. it's fucking hard work, actually. he had to find out exactly where she'd be, when she'd be alone, make a copy of her dorm key, make sure her roommate was out. and that's all before he killed her. he had to get her body out, unseen, bleach her dorm, get her into the trunk of his car, and he's still got to get rid of her body, now with everyone looking for her! it’s fucking hard to be a serial killer. especially one that doesn't get caught.
it's her own fault. stupid girl shouldn't have been bad mouthing you like that. to do it so out in the open too? bitch had it coming. yapping around campus how she only kept you around 'cause other people liked you. nuh uh, no one talks about art's girl like that. she'd been getting too close to you anyway, it was only a matter of time before art took things into his own hands.
"oh, baby, i'm sure she's fine," he murmurs, rubbing up and down your back under your, his, sweater. art's trying so hard not to let his mind run away with him, especially with the feeling of your skin under his and how fuckin' pretty you look with tear stained cheeks and that pout on your lips. "she probably just stayed at some frat boys house, lexi can be like that." lexi can be a slut, is what art's trying to nicely say. always dragging you with her to stupid frat parties, that art hates you going to. he's the only boy who should be seeing you all dolled up.
brows knitted, bottom lip still poking out as you meet his eyes again. nodding in agreement, always taking art's words as gospel. he would never lie to you, right? "think you should stay here, until she's back though, baby." art murmurs softly, holding your cheeks in his hands, breath ghosting across your face. any excuse to have you staying with him, he'll take. "yeah?" art hums, a smile threatening his features. poking your side, making you giggle, when you don't respond to him.
"yeah, artie." you mumble, smiling up to him. you're too easy. he'll have you convinced lexi was a horrible person by the time he's even dumped the body.

the first time you found the letter sitting outside your dorm, you thought nothing of it. hundreds of students passed your dorm on the daily and it wasn’t uncommon that someone had dropped a paper or two. you skimmed the letter, trying to see if it was a homework assignment or just something you could toss, but you found it was neither.
is he all that you want? is he all that you need? i’d be there in a hurry, baby come back to me. i could build us a house down across the sea. i’d be there in a hurry, baby come back to me.
you were sympathetic for whatever person was supposed to be on the receiving end of the letter. it was clear their ex was jealous they had moved on and wrote the letter in hopes of getting them back. you ended up trashing the letter, trying to save anyone from their creepy ex.
not even a day later another letter arrived at your door. it wasn’t completely unusual for students to drop papers two days in a row, but was a rare occurrence. you asked some people who were passing by if it was there’s but everyone shook their heads no. once you were inside your dorm you read the paper to see what it said.
i’ll be all that you want. i’ll be all that you need. i’m outside your apartment. baby, come back to me. i just built us a house down across the sea, just to tell you i’m sorry. baby, come back to me.
you couldn’t help the sinking feeling in your gut after you had finished reading. the first letter had been strange but you brushed it off as someone accidentally dropping it. but this, you knew wasn’t an accident—no one just happens to drop connecting letters outside your door.
you dashed over to your window to see if anyone was waiting outside but there wasn’t a sign of life. after shutting your blinds, you sat down on your bed trying to figure out your next move. the only thing that made this situation so confusing was the fact you didn’t have an ex boyfriend. your current boyfriend was the guy you’d met back in middle school. these letters seemed to be written in the perspective of someone who wants you back, suggesting they’d already had you at one point.
—
art had started to get sloppy with his stalking (although, he didn’t believe he was a stalker. in his words, he was simply keeping a protective eye over you.) he couldn’t stand having to see you and your boyfriend be sickeningly in love every day. art had waited years for the two of you to break up, but you never did.
after one too many beers in the confines of his dorm, art had decided to write and send you the first letter. it was sloppy and rushed but he needed you to know just how much he cared for you and wanted you to be happy. he saw the way you were less than happy with you boyfriend and he wanted to be a partner you would never feel disappointed with. he would be perfect for you only if you’d let him.
that night he climbed up onto the roof of the adjacent building to your dorm and watched as you read his letter. from his spot you couldn’t see him but he had the perfect view of you. most days he would climb up there to watch as you and your boyfriend sloppily made out on your bed (he had been a vouyeurist ever since he’s accidentally saw patrick and tashi getting it on).
art’s face fell when he saw the way you laughed after reading his work and casually tossed it into your trash like it had meant nothing to you. how could a girl so beautiful and kind be so cruel to him? after all the times he’d protected you while you walked alone at night and ensured you made it to your dorm safely, you threw away his precious gift to you? in that moment, art knew you needed another letter. one that would make you realize that it was meant for you. one that would make you realize someone out there loved you with all their being.
the next day he had slipped past your dorm and dropped the letter off. he was giddy as he made his way back up to the roof to watch your reaction. art felt like a kid on christmas as he studied your reaction. he adored the way your brows furrowed in confusion and he wanted to kiss the lines away.
the moment you stood by your window, searching for him, art nearly moaned at the sight of you. you were beautiful. your skin was illuminated by the warm orange glow from your lamp, your eyes seemed to sparkle in the moonlight. you looked like an angel and art had to have you. with jittering limbs art rushed off of the rooftop and to your dorm.
—
a sharp knock at your door broke you from your thoughts. who on earth could be knocking at this time of night? it suddenly occurred to you that the person standing outside could be the author of the two letters, so you pretended to be asleep.
you stayed quiet as their relentless pounding continued, in hopes they’d become discouraged and leave. art, on the other hand, was relentless. he had it in his mind that he had to have you and nothing would prevent him from that. he started taking running starts at your door, trying to knock it down.
as soon as he started doing that, you were on the phone with your boyfriend begging him to come do something. while you waited for him to come, you called campus security and hid in the bathroom.
art’s voice traveled through your door, but it all fell deaf to your ears. he was begging you to give him a chance and that he’d be the perfect boyfriend to you. after ten minutes your boyfriend and security arrived, hauling art away from your door. the blond kicked and screamed, shouting that they could never take him away from his true love. it was true—you didn’t know what he looked like, so he had another chance to make you his.
ooooh this is gonna get a little weird and tw!stalking but.... :'( i just keep thinking about how fucking down bad art donaldson would be for a college crush :( i can see him going fucking insane. picture it </3 you'd probably meet him in one of your general education classes - intro to human nutrition, likely - and he's drawn to you because, well, who wouldn't be? :( look at you! you're so eager. so excited to just be there. ugh and he thinks you're so cute with your meticulous notes and all of those colorful pens so he asks if you want to study together sometime and of course you do.
you exchange numbers :( he loves that you saved your name in his phone with an old school smiley :( he loves texting you when he's got a spare moment (he makes time, trust me) because he wants to know everything about you :( do you have any pets? what are your favorite movies? your hobbies? life ambitions? :( he would absolutely open his notes app and just start jotting shit down so he never forgets :(
it's bad and getting worse by the day because your study dates have migrated from the library to your dorm room and when he leaves he smells like your perfume and it's so lovely that, yeah, okay maybe he starts taking things he shouldn't!! but it's not his fault and he's not crazy per se!!! he just likes you a lot! i mean, he's seen pictures of your family now! and he can envision laughing with your dad at the table over your mom's famous peach cobbler during thanksgiving! my god.
before long he's memorized your schedule and just so happens to plant himself conveniently around campus so you can bump into each other :( he just likes seeing your face and he wants to eat you up because you're so cute :( you always look so happy to see him :( you show up to his practices with a tote bag filled with snacks, "healthy ones," you tell him, pulling out baggies of freeze-dried fruits and nuts, "for the star tennis player and maybe the chipmunks...maybe." and fuck, even tashi likes you!!! you've made art better. he's so hyper-focused on impressing you, on being the best for you, that his forms have never looked better! so tashi just avoids the obvious - that art is becoming borderline obsessed - i mean, it's not a problem... right?
patrick seems to think so. but, you see, patrick is the one who discovers the box and art is furious because patrick is blowing this completely out of proportion. it's not weird, he tries to reason as patrick dumps the contents over his bed. "they're just momentos!" art wails, but then patrick is picking up your panties on his pinky and smacking your hairbrush away with a disgusted flick of his wrist and then there are the polaroids that - shit, i can't even talk about - but art is sobbing :( he's got these big ole tears rolling down his red cheeks and he's wrapping himself around patrick, mouthing at his neck, begging him to not intervene because he just can't live without you now :'( it's dramatic and it's awful and patrick can't do anything in that moment but card his fingers through art's curls to console him because he knows he's going to have to break his heart :(
later, when art is fast asleep at his side, patrick steals your number, plugs it into one of those anonymous text lines, and confesses the sins of his misguided boy. i mean, shit, even angels fall, right?
stalker!art update... sorry about the wait
18+ cw: stalking
“we agreed on shared custody! she should hold up her end of the agreement like-“
“fuck, i forgot my keys.” art’s murmur goes ignored by a rambling miles as he continues to go on and on about a stupid thing he has going on with you.
art’s heard about it far too many times. a few weeks ago, you and your close friend miles won a stuffed animal at a carnival the friend group had gone to. since then, you both agreed on having 50/50 shared custody of the stuffed golden retriever called honey. you’re supposed to switch every week, but after miles went out of town and kept it for a few extra days, it’s been war between you two. you’ve been stealing it back and forth from each other for weeks now. he’s even been calling you ‘bee’ since you want honey so badly.
art thinks the whole thing is childish and stupid. obvious bias aside, it’s a dumb game that’s more annoying than fun. Every time he hears miles call you that infuriating pet name, he has to bite his tongue to not start screaming at him. you’re adults in college- there’s no need to be acting childish and calling each other nicknames over a plushie. on top of the annoying topic of conversation, art’s been racking his brain for ideas on how to break into your room without getting caught by the camera. the irony of him being the one who installed the camera meant to catch, well, him makes him want to laugh and cry a tiny bit.
he huffs frustratedly as whips out his wallet and does his trick, unlocking his door easily. he’s gotten much better at it with all the practice he’s gotten. it’s almost second nature.
miles’ rant comes to a halt once the door swings open. “woah, what the fuck? how’d you unlock it?”
art shrugs, “easy, you just shove a card in the gap. i use an old gift card, and just,” art’s hand comes up in the air and mimics the movement.
“and this works in all the dorms?” miles asks.
art shrugs again and flings himself on his bed. “i guess,” he mutters with no interest in continuing the conversation. he just wants miles to leave so he can focus on coming up with a way to break in to your room unnoticed.
miles drops his backpack and sits down at art’s desk, completely unaware of the blond’s bad mood. “shit, yeah that comes in handy. i’ll have to use that to steal honey back and-“
but art stopped listening the second he glanced out his window and caught sight of you in your room. you’re sitting at the end of your bed, smiling at something he can’t see from that angle. suddenly, he starts wondering if you’ve got someone over and gets angry that it could be another man.
now lost in jealousy, his friend is completely tuned out. he barely registers it when miles leaves his dorm. if he were paying attention though, he’d find out miles is planning on breaking into your dorm later today.

motion detected
the notification stops you dead in your tracks. two little words, and you feel icy sparks shooting down your spine.
“what is it?” your friend ellie asks, trying to look over your shoulder to see what’s got you so tense. at lightning speed, you turn your phone out of her sight and click the notification.
the live camera feed buffers for a split second, and then it pops up.
there he is. your stalker.
his back is to the camera as he crowds around your bedside table. he grabs something quickly and shoves it in the pocket of his navy hoodie. you hardly register your heart pounding out of your chest.
he turns slightly, and you catch a sight of the word “carhartt” running down the sleeve. you recognized that hoodie very well. it’s the one miles wears often. he left it in your dorm once.
“ellie,” you say breathlessly. “call miles right now.” eyes glued to the screen, you watch as the man walks towards your door. “now!” your eyes finally leave your screen as you turn to stare down your friend. she instantly unlocks her phone and does as you say, panic swarming in her eyes.
just as you suspected, the figure digs his arm into the pocket of his jeans and pulls out his phone. he answers the call within half a ring.
“hey el,” he says casually.
“hi-“ ellie starts, but you interrupt. “miles, where are you?”
he hesitates for a second. “bee, is that you? um, i’m at art’s,” he tries, but lying has never come naturally to him. your hands shake as you take ellie’s phone.
deep breath. and another. what the fuck are you supposed to do in this situation? but a feeling akin to fight or flight kicks in. “i need to talk to you about something,” your voice quivers. “can we meet up at my dorm in five?”
miles’ casual tone falls. there’s an air of nerves to it instead. “yes, sure. is everything alright? are you and ellie okay?”
“we’re okay. just meet me outside my dorm.”
miles is still standing there on the camera feed, phone brought up to his ear. he hasn’t moved since he answered.
“okay,” he says and hangs up. you watch with shallow breath as he shoves his phone back in his pocket and walks out of your room.
what the fuck. it was miles. miles as in your friend since highschool. miles did this. miles wrote the notes. miles stole your stuff and has been watching you and did things to your lotion and-
a hand on your arm snaps you out of your panicked state. “are you okay?” ellie’s hand is gentle where it lies.
“yeah, el,” you lie. “i just need to get to my dorm. i’ll see you later.” your eyes finally meet hers, and you can see the worry swirling in them.
“o-okay,” she murmurs as you walk away.
-
“miles, what the fuck?”
you weren’t far from your dorm when you got the notification, but somehow the walk felt like hours. your brain moved at a speed you couldn’t keep up with. you can’t believe it was him, one of your closest friends, of all people.
a small part of you thinks about all those nights you slipped your fingers between your thighs while thinking of your stalker. you imagined someone sweet and sensitive who stalks you because he’s scared of rejection or something.
you definitely did not expect it from the hot, popular jock all the girls (including you in freshman year, before you really got to know him) had crushes on in high school. the guy who had no shame and too much confidence. the guy who asks girls out left and right, ego growing with each date he went on and each girl he danced with. you were way off and, well, disappointed. you definitely don’t like him in that sense, and no amount of erotic notes could change that.
and now you have to confront him and reject him. how does one even go about that conversation?
you don’t have the time to answer that question by the time you’re standing right in front of him.
“like seriously, what the fuck?” you repeat as he looks at you, guilt laced into his expression. he really isn’t good at lying.
“what?” he asks in that little airhead voice he puts on every time he tries to get away with something.
there’s something so frustrating about having to explain his own crime to him while he plays innocent. You clench your teeth together. “don’t act like you weren’t just in there.” his eyes flicker to the door to your room.
his brows furrow as he realizes he’s been caught. “i’m sorry, but listen-”
“it was you this whole time then. holy shit.”
“‘this whole time?’ wha- what do you mean?”
you can’t stand to look into his eyes. your eyes burn holes into his sweater. “you’re the stalker– the one leaving notes a-and breaking in a-and-”
“woah, woah, what? stalker? bee, what the fuck are you talking about? someone’s stalking you?”
blood rushes to your face out of frustration. miles sound so worried, you almost want to start sobbing. how pathetic: confronting your stalker and instead of yelling like a regular person, tears begin collecting in your waterline. maybe it’s your frazzled headspace, but he doesn’t sound like he’s lying anymore. you rub your eyes angrily.
“it’s you, miles! i saw you! i put up a camera, a-and you were in my room when ellie called you.”
miles takes a step back, “n-no, that’s the first time i’ve ever been in your room without you, a-and it was because of this.” you don’t know what you were expecting when he dug into the pocket of his hoodie, but it certainly wasn’t the stuffed dog you’ve been stealing from each other.
“wha- so, you- it wasn’t you writing the notes?”
his head shakes gently. you can’t stand the way he’s looking at you like you’re broken or something. “what notes, bee? i- i have no idea what you’re talking about.” you can see the sincerity and genuine concern in his eyes, but there’s still so much left unexplained. “is someone stalking you? are you in danger?”
you shrug, not really sure how to answer that. “i don’t think so, no. it’s harmless, really, but i put the camera up to find that guy.” you shake your head as if you're snapping out of his trance. “if it isn’t you, then how the fuck did you get into my room? is breaking into dorms just like common knowledge?”
“no, i didn’t even know it was possible until i was hanging out with art earlier today and he forgot his key so he broke into his own dorm and then i thought of honey and he taught me.”
“art taught you?” miles nods slowly and quickly shakes his head as if he could see what you’re thinking.
“bee, art wouldn’t do this. he isn’t that type of guy– he isn’t a creep.”
you laugh but it comes out more like a breathless scoff. “yeah, you’re right. art isn’t weird like that, he wouldn’t do something like this.” as much as he fits the expectation you have for your stalker (sensitive, sweet, and scared of rejection) and as much as you would want him to be your stalker because, well, he’s probably the most charming man you’ll ever met, he wouldn’t do something like this. he’s way too wholesome to have that dark side to him. he’s like two kids, white picket fence, and golden retriever wholesome.
miles agrees silently and takes a step closer to you. “i’m walking you to and from class now. consider me your bodyguard.”
you sigh emptily. back to square one it is then. there was a moment where it felt good to know who your stalker was. you felt relieved, but now, you’re all the more desperate to find him. “it’s okay. it’s not a big deal, really. you don’t have to worry-”
“i’m not letting some perverted creep hurt you, bee, no matter how harmless you say he is. c’mon, you’re like a little sister to me. plus, if something happens to you, who’d co-parent honey with me?”
you giggle at that and pluck the plushie out of his hold. “speaking of, considering the panic you caused me, i’ll be taking her.”
he huffs as you unlock your door. “alright, fair, and i promise to never break into your room again.” he drops down to one knee to tie his shoe once you enter.
“thanks,” you laugh as you place honey on your bedside table. “okay, let’s go find ellie, i left her to go to the library alone, poor thing.”
but just as you’re about to leave the room, your eyes flicker out the window and catch a glimpse of a face staring back at you, watching you from a window. it’s a face you recognize very well. one you spend all your group hangouts gazing at because of his perfect, soft features and pretty smile. the face is lost behind the blinds the second you make eye contact, but there’s no denying what you saw. art.
the realization hits you like a train at full speed.
“oh my fucking god,” you whisper under your breath.
“are you ready to go?” miles asks from the door.
you nod and walk out of your room with jagged breaths and a pounding heart.

summary: art's not the only one stalking you, and he has to intervene
cw .ᐟ hints at nsfw, stalking, violence
꒰ notes ꒱ didnt have anything planned for challengers anniversary, sooo posting this to make up for it <3 p.s thank u for the req bb!!
another night, in his usual spot. sat on the bench behind your dorm building, he’s forever grateful that you got assigned a ground floor room. and that you’re too fucking naive to ever close your curtains.
he always finds comfort in these moments, just watching you. occasionally snapping a few pictures, jotting down notes about how you spend your evening. paying attention to the clothes you have on, the new pictures up on your wall, which sheets you put on your bed this week.
he’s studying, in a way. learning every detail about you. art needs to find out everything he can about you, like his own personal project.
only something feels off tonight. he can’t explain it, but the air feels different. he’s more on edge, nervous. he’s usually calm, whenever he’s watching. knows his little airhead would never notice anyone following her.
he sees the flash before he hears any movement. watches your brows furrow as you peer out the window. art would never take a picture with flash, he’s not that stupid.
but that means— he’s not alone. his eyes quickly scan the area outside your window, anger already filling his body. who’s the fucking creep sat outside his girls window taking pictures?
and then he sees. hidden the bushes, dark clothes and black cap. professional camera in hand, makes art’s camera phone look amateur.
no, no, no— this can’t be happening. you’re art’s girl. his to watch after, to protect. how had he not noticed he wasn’t alone in his lurking. he’s been too focused on you, he hadn’t even noticed. how long had this guy been creeping on you? the thought makes art sick to his stomach.
his thoughts are going a hundred miles an hour, he has to intervene, right? he can’t let this weirdo have pictures of you. especially pictures of you in that little blue babydoll dress you sleep in. no, that vision is for art’s eyes only.
“what the hell you doin’, buddy?” he’s up and on his feet before he can register he’s moving. words leaving his lips before he can acknowledge them.
art sees the panic in his eyes, the light from your bedroom highlighting his features. he scrambles to hide the camera, no— not good enough.
he can’t even explain what came over him, art’s rarely one to raise his voice, let alone be violent. the camera is quickly ripped from his hands, crashed down on the floor. only then do you notice the boys outside your window, the sound of the smash echoing into your dorm.
three punches. a bloody nose. art’s staring down to his bruising knuckles, almost proud of himself being able to protect his girl.
“stay the fuck away from her.”
he almost laughs as he watches him scramble to his feet and run in the opposite direction. art never knew he was so intimidating.
leaning down to the floor, hunting through the remains of the camera. sd card in hand. what? he can’t have those pictures, but art can.
his head picks up, as he meets your eyes through the glass. for the first time, you’re looking back at him. art’s thought about this moment for months.
but he surprises himself. he always thought he’d be nervous, too shy to acknowledge you when your eyes first met. but he’s not.
art sends a simple wink in your direction, as he slips the sd card into his jeans pocket. he doesn’t miss the blush on your cheeks as he does. art has to force himself to walk away after, he can’t do anything to ruin the perfect moment that was your first meeting.

mhhmm yesss thinking about Joe Goldberg!Art many thoughts yes

summary: art will stop at nothing to protect you
cw .ᐟ hints at nsfw, murder
꒰ notes ꒱ this kinda feels like a prologue........ (assumed this was a writing req rather than a bot but lmk if im wrong angel!!!)
you were too easy of a target. made things oh so simple for art. you were too damn trusting, it was half the reason why he was so besotted with you. you and your sweet smile, the wide eyes that just said ruin me. god, he'd never needed anyone so badly in his life.
he'd had tendencies before, slight obsessive behaviours back in boarding school. patrick noticed, back then, but he always assumed it was innocent. thought that art was just a little insecure, just relied on patrick a lot. never did he think it would grow into anything more, boy was he wrong.
it was like a flip switched, when art first saw you. every single thought in his brain switched off, he didn't care about anything other than you. the pink dresses you always wore, how your hair was always perfectly done, the shine of your lipgloss. art could fill books about you— he's nearly finished the first diary dedicated to you.
he found ways to stay close to you, to keep him going while he wasn't with you. he'd been doing it since before you were dating. stealing your panties, covering your pillows in his fluids, polaroids of you while you were sleeping. art treasured everything he stole from you, and everything he did to your space when you weren't there.
and see, art wasn't originally the violent type. but no one messes with his girl. he's grown to love the look of blood washing down his sink, the bruises that line his knuckles days after, the memories of their pleadings for mercy. that guy who called you dumb? gone. the girl who laughed at you? buried. the boy who tried to touch you? oh him, he's still bleeding out in art's bathroom. be a couple days before you can stay the night at his dorm.
he would do anything for you. in a heartbeat. and the amount of bodies he's had to discard are definitely starting to prove that point. he's just protecting you! art's only looking out for his girl, there's nothing wrong with that, surely! he can't let anyone say anything bad about you, do anything bad to you, he won't have it.
he's fuckin' smart too. that goofy grin and head of blonde curls cover up a multitude of sins (literally). art knows exactly how to play things, how to cover up his crimes. come on, he's literally majoring in criminology. he's got it all sussed out.
