His Majesty's love-hate-despise-admire relationship with humanity. He loves them, he hates them, he loves to hate them, and he hates to love them! Everything about them! Every flaw is something that annoys him in the way it reinforces how perfect a creature the human is, and how, at the same time, he sees himself in every shade of their existence. Their pride, their stubbornness, their anger, their jealousy, their cruelty, their lust, their greed, all of it. He is the originator of these sins, and it pisses him the fuck off every time he sees a little of himself in an insignificant, stupid, weak, pathetic child abandoned by their creator... The only thing that pisses him off more is how beautiful and flawless he finds them despite it.

You write fear so well and that's like one of my favorite parts of whump and you nailed it so hard

I really have to hand it to you there (sorry I couldn't help myself lol)

I think you write such compelling characters and I especially love James' character voice it's so unique and captures some of that older literary type character voice which makes everything blend into the ship/ocean setting so well with that kind of antique vibe

Speaking of, ship/pirate ship whump is another one of my very favorite whump things and you also killed that part hell yeah 🔥🔥🔥 I love the brig #mybrig I love how much James does not love the brig but rather experiences tremendous psychological terror at being near/inside it

The James and Peter interactions are 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌 WugehugshuehehehshgsgghhaghshsgUAHSGGSHSUSHHAHSHHAIAJJAGGWHWHJAIBHAHAGIUAUUEUEUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also greatly enjoy how the scenes focus on James' emotional/mental state while the terrible things are happening like we sometimes "miss" parts of things being done to him because he's unconscious or out of it or in too much pain and/or fear to process anything. It's so very wonderful and awesome :) I loved the part where Peter makes James think he's going to cut off his other hand and James just absolutely Loses It™ emotionally and starts immediately intensely freaking out. Really wonderful part :))
