oh my gosh yes. the longer answer is that i think they're both really passionate men who are willing go very far to protect their people and fight for what's good. and while samuel is perhaps more hot headed or impatient i feel like zizka could see his younger self in him and sympathize a lot, while likewise samuel would probably have a lot of respect for someone as experienced and capable as zizka who still really stands fast in his beliefs. and as such i think they would really be drawn to each other! the shorter answer is i think they're both hot and therefore they should kiss :)

I am. Of the opinion that Jake and Frenchie meet while Marc's in his mercenary era. Frenchie knows Jake before Marc does. And for some of that time, Frenchie doesn't know it's Not Marc, because, after all, Jake is quite good at playing Marc, and had been doing so for most of his time fronting throughout their life.
A lot of my previous discussions of this are directly tied to my fun mk polycule hc's and Jake stepping in when Marc is a complete idiot about how he feels about Frenchie, big "You're fucking this up so bad, I'VE GOT THIS, OUTTA MY WAY PENDEJO" and then makes out with Frenchie. And Marc excuses it as like. A drinking blackout, not a dissociative blackout.
But in general terms, I think Frenchie starts to pick up on Jake. Jake is stepping in when Marc is self-destructive, gets too in over his head and gives up the fight, and in the occasional social scenario Marc is fucking up like kissing. At a certain point, I think Jake lets his guard down around Frenchie, lets the mask of playing Marc fall. A lot of the time when he takes the front, it's a life or death scenario, and it's gonna take all his spoons to get them out of there, and he doesn't want to always throw Marc back to the front following that kind of stuff. So, a bit tired, and trusting Frenchie, he let's himself be himself. And Frenchie notices. It'd be a lot to get Jake to admit he isn't Marc, but I think he craves it to a certain extent. Connection, that is.

After mercenary era, Marc and Frenchie end up working together on some Khonshu job, and Marc tries to tell Frenchie about Khonshu and Frenchie is like "I know you're autistic, mon ami, it's alright."
"I'm WHAT?" and then they kiss

(Had a v chaotic but fun talk last night w @steverogers-against-disney @pizzee @scarabgrant n @mockspector n I was reminded that I desperately need to share some of my aroace Jake vibes as an aroace Jake fan sO… here are those, with a sprinkle of my personal ship prefs)
Jake is a man driven by his strong sense of purpose and personhood. And he is good at defining himself! At what feels like him. It may not be as rigid as it is for other people, but it’s what feels right to him.
The thing is that I feel like with his life and his job and… him, he wouldn’t really give a lot of thought to how relationships are supposed to feel, they just exist. And it’s not like he doesn’t know about attraction or romance or sex or whatever, Marc’s dated plenty when they were younger, but what that means for him personally just isn’t really on his radar.
And then when they’re older it pops up, because people start taking an interest in Jake, in him, on the street, or at a bar, or even when he’s acting as Steven at work, and it just… huh. It feels more personal than seeing it happen to someone else, less abstract, and it makes him have to think about it. About what it would feel like to want things with people, or to feel something… different.
He has a lot of time to himself in the headspace. He’s not conscious or around all the time, obviously, but when he is, when he’s observing Marc and Steven as they go about their lives, he has time to think. Especially when Marc and Layla get together, get married, that really puts an emphasis on it. Because what’s… what’s different about it? What makes it special?
He tries to look for something tactile, something he can feel, because if it’s not something he can nail down then how would he be able to tell? But there’s… not really anything he can find, so he just decides not to worry about it. Maybe that’s just not for him.
He has friends, he has comrades. He’s got Gena and Frenchie and eventually Marc and Steven and Layla, and they’re fantastic. He cares for them, he enjoys being around them. He likes gossiping over coffee with Gena, and listening to Steven infodump, and supporting Marc through rougher days.
And there’s people that are different, sometimes, but he couldn’t really explain why or how.
He loves Layla, sure, but not like Marc and Steven do. He likes her company, likes laying with her in bed or letting her play with his hair, because her hands are gentle, and he likes that, but it’s not… it’s not romantic love. It’s just connection, closeness, intimacy without expectation. And that’s why it’s so relieving. There doesn’t have to be more, he can just have… that. And that can be enough.
Frenchie is harder to pin down. He thinks maybe that could be love, sometimes, in the way that he’s seen other people have, but not… he’s not sure. And he doesn’t feel the need to find out. They’re good with whatever they have, whatever’s grown after years of Jake knowing him secondhand, and then firsthand, and then… yeah.
But Jake doesn’t know what it is. He’s not sure he could actually conceptualize love for himself in a way that was solid, in a way that felt real. It makes sense for others, he gets it, but when he tries to grab hold of the idea it keeps disappearing like it was never there at all. Maybe it’s not… he wasn’t… he doesn’t really need it, in that way.
That’s all what it comes back to, isn’t it?
He’s just Jake, and the people in his life are just in it, and that’s good enough for him, in the end.

YESS HEHE This has been the Jakefrenchie piece I’ve talked ab here and over on discord a few times. It’s E, but is also ending up being a lot of character and relationship study which has been super fun.
